Second, detailed difference analysis.
Differences in enrollment conditions
The master of law requires a bachelor's degree from the National Education Sequence University, not limited to undergraduate majors. In principle, non-undergraduate students with the same academic qualifications are not admitted; Master of Law requires non-law graduates with a bachelor's degree in national education. However, since 2009, law graduates have been allowed to apply for the direction of Master of Laws (Law).
Test questions are often different.
The test questions of the professional course of master of laws tend to be theoretical, with subjective questions as the main topic and emphasis on theoretical depth. LLM originated in Britain and the United States, followed the principle of training legal talents in the United States, and required strong logical thinking and reasoning ability. Therefore, LLM is an undergraduate course for non-law graduates, and the topic tends to practice, and its test paper is relatively easier than LLM's test paper.
The admission ratio is different.
The admission ratio of LLM is generally between 5: 1- 10: 1, and individual majors in individual schools may be above 12: 1 Master of Laws (LLM) is a popular major for postgraduate entrance examination in Britain and the United States, and the institutions with full-time LLM enrollment rights are mainly national key universities, so the competition is extremely fierce, generally, 15: 1 starts, and 20: 1 is even worse. Of course, there is a special case, that is, the enrollment ratio of Master of Laws (Law), which has been greatly adjusted in recent years because it is limited to law majors and most colleges and universities have too few applicants. Its registration ratio is often 2: 1, or even higher.
Different teaching and training methods
The Master of Laws adopts the tutorial system of different majors, and each student has a tutor (professor or associate professor). During my study, I can get constant guidance from my tutor, and study relevant legal theories in depth, with theoretical teaching as the main part and practical teaching as the supplement, and the time spent in the practical stage is much less than that of the Master of Laws.
Most LLM are not professional, and adopt "double tutor" system or teaching and research group system. Based on the principle of practical application, practice is the first, and the teaching concept of theoretical study and practical operation is implemented. However, in recent years, some colleges and universities have also begun to make changes in the teaching and training methods of master of laws. Some colleges and universities have begun to train assistant tutors in the first year of graduate students. The main lecturer is the teacher in the school, and the tutor outside the school only guides the practical course in the second year. There are also some colleges and universities that have trained masters of laws in different directions, usually starting from the second year of graduate students. In addition, Master of Laws (LLM) has been equated with Master of Laws training in some universities.
Different academic systems
The general learning cycle of LLM is 2-3 years, and 3 years is more common. There are two kinds of master of laws. The study period of Master of Laws (Illegal Studies) is usually 3 years, and the study period of Master of Laws (Law) is usually 2 years.
The future employment orientation is somewhat different.
Due to the slightly different training modes and the influence of social cognition, the employment orientation of their graduates is also slightly different. Take the Master of Laws as an example, the common employment destinations are further studies, doctoral studies, teacher teaching and scientific research. Master of law is pragmatic, and the main graduates are the first choice for lawyers and legal affairs. This is also the general trend to distinguish the development of other professional masters from academic masters in the future, especially in the future when the master's degree develops in depth, academic masters mainly focus on scientific research and university teachers.
