According to the nature of work, lawyers can be divided into full-time lawyers and part-time lawyers; according to their business scope, lawyers can be divided into civil lawyers, criminal lawyers and administrative lawyers; according to their clients and work status, lawyers can be divided into social lawyers, corporate lawyers and public lawyers. Lawyer's business is mainly divided into litigation business and non-litigation business.
The duties of lawyers stipulated in the Lawyers Law mainly include the following clauses:
Article 2 The term "lawyer" as mentioned in this Law refers to a practitioner who has obtained a lawyer's practice certificate according to law, accepted entrustment or assignment, and provided legal services to clients.
lawyers should safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of clients and correctly implement laws and social fairness and justice.
article 29 when a lawyer acts as a legal adviser, he shall provide advice to the client on relevant legal issues, draft and review legal documents, participate in litigation, mediation or arbitration activities as an agent, handle other entrusted legal affairs and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the client.
article 3 when a lawyer represents litigation legal affairs or non-litigation legal affairs, he shall safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the client within the scope of entrustment.
article 31 when acting as a defender, a lawyer shall, in accordance with facts and laws, present materials and opinions on acquittal, lighter punishment or reduction or exemption of criminal responsibility of criminal suspects and defendants, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.
