According to historical records, Xiaosu Bridge was built in the Song Dynasty, rebuilt in 1309, rebuilt in 1496, rebuilt in the sixth year of Kangxi (1667) and rebuilt twice in the fourth year of Daoguang (1824). According to the Chronology of Jiaqing Eight Years (1803), the bridge was named Jintong Bridge. Guangxu 13th year (1887) continued. Later, in memory of Bao Xiao Su Gong, a famous minister in the Song Dynasty, the bridge was named Xiao Su Bridge.
1936 The original bridge was converted into a wooden beam bridge. At that time, Anhui Province was divided into Northern Anhui Administrative Office and Southern Anhui Administrative Office. The Northern Anhui Administrative Office instructed the Highway Bureau to build a bridge here. The new bridge adopts reinforced concrete pile foundation and double bent pier, and the upper part adopts through Bailey steel frame and wooden beam. The bridge is 52.32m long and11.5m wide, in which the clear width of each side of two lanes is 3.
By 1963, due to years of use, the wooden bridge deck had decayed and driving was very dangerous, so the Hefei municipal government decided to rebuild it. In June, 1964, 1 1, the reconstruction of the new bridge was completed. Wuhu Road Bridge was named after connecting east and west Wuhu Road, and later renamed Yan 'an Road Bridge. The new bridge is 53.17m long, the carriageway is14m wide, and the sidewalks on both sides are 2.5m wide. It is a reinforced concrete pavement. The design load of this bridge is 0/0 ton for car/kloc-0, 80 tons for trailer, and the clear height under the bridge is 7 meters, which meets the standard of Class VI waterway.
Xiao Su Bridge has spanned the Nanfeihe River for nearly a thousand years, and has witnessed great changes on both sides of the Nanfeihe River through vicissitudes. 1990, in line with the public opinion, the municipal government decided to rename Wuhu Road and Bridge as Xiao Su Bridge, giving the bridge a heavy history and reminding us at all times: "Straight is fair for all generations, and flat is universal."
