Le Senxun has been engaged in geology and paleontology education for many years, and personally taught invertebrate paleontology, general theory of geological history, Formosa coral, Tetracoral coral, paleontology research methods, biostratigraphy introduction, mineral stratigraphy and other courses at Peking University. He is meticulous in his lectures and strict with students. He often talks about the demeanor of old experts and scholars, encourages students to love the geological cause, set up lofty aspirations and implement the party's educational policy.
Le Senxun attaches great importance to the cultivation of graduate students, with meticulous guidance, strict requirements and enthusiastic encouragement. As soon as the graduate students entered the school, he helped to make a study plan, designated English reference books, required the full text to be translated into Chinese, set a good class schedule and check it every week. Le Senxun gave careful guidance and regular inspection on the topic selection, field work and indoor research of graduate students. He also repeatedly revised the graduate thesis word for word, even the punctuation and reference format, and even personally demonstrated the posting of the fossil plate. Under his careful guidance, the professional knowledge and foreign language level of graduate students have improved rapidly.
Le Senxun always cares about the training of young and middle-aged teachers and the construction of teaching staff. Before the young teachers start classes, he always gives enthusiastic guidance, helps to make lesson plans, revises lecture notes, and sometimes attends classes in person and organizes teachers to observe each other. He has formulated and revised training and further education plans for young and middle-aged teachers for many times, spent a lot of time reviewing teachers' scientific research achievements, put forward suggestions for revision, enthusiastically recommended them for publication, and even personally prefaced them. At the age of 60, he personally led young and middle-aged teachers to carry out field work and teaching practice, walked up the mountain with crutches, guided on-site observation and collected scientific research materials.
In order to restore and develop the Department of Geology in Peking University, Le Senxun began to restore the major of Geology in Peking University in 1955. He, Professor Wang Jiayin and two teaching assistants are busy day and night, undertaking a series of arduous tasks, such as setting up a teaching team, carrying out teaching work, choosing to establish an internship base, purchasing books, instruments and specimens, and building a laboratory. The Department of Geology of Peking University was established and developed in a relatively short period of time, which condensed many painstaking efforts of Le Sen-xun.
Le Senxun is obsessed with the construction of teaching staff and teaching laboratory building in the Department of Geology of Peking University. He has written many proposals to the relevant state departments and made suggestions at various opportunities. He often said: "My greatest wish is to rebuild the Department of Geology; My greatest happiness is to fight to the last breath of my life to train geological science talents. "
