As the name implies, the public shed, an inherent term in the carrier pigeon industry, is the venue for the carrier pigeon competition. Commonly known as "playing the shed" in the industry, it is actually a form of homing pigeon competition.

Participants send their young pigeons aged 30-60 to the designated pigeon house from March to June every year, and the management personnel will manage, raise and tame them. After being tamed, pigeons will be sent to the same place at the same time of10-1. Returning to the nest first (public shed) is a popular form of competition.
In China, the shed-opening competition is divided into two groups: international and domestic, and members of pigeon associations at home and abroad can register.
