Lotus Pagoda, formerly known as Wenchang Pagoda, or Shili Pagoda and Lion Pagoda, is located on the main peak of Lotus Mountain, east of Shiqiao Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou. Provincial cultural relics protection units.
Lotus Pagoda was built by Li Weifeng, a Panyu juren, in the 40th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (16 12), and was originally named Wenchang Pagoda. Lotus Hill is also called "Stone Pagoda" because it is full of stones. Because there is a natural lion-shaped rock on the east and west slopes, it is also called "Lion Tower".
Lotus Pagoda is a pavilion-style brick tower with nine-level octagonal appearance, eleven floors of underground buildings and wooden floors. It is 48.6 meters high and 3.63 meters long on both sides of the ground floor. Its pink walls are red pillars, green glazed tiles and octagonal pyramid-shaped roofs. Tile eaves at all levels are picked out with bricks and tiles, with flat seats and doors, windows or niches on all sides. Brick steps are built on the tower wall and spiral to the top floor. It is built on the main peak of Lianhua Mountain and stands at the entrance of the Pearl River. It is the first tower seen when entering Guangzhou by water, and it is known as the "capital of China".
Lotus Pagoda, Pizhou Pagoda and Chigang Pagoda stand along the foot of the Pearl River, just like the three masts of a ship, commonly known as "three walls". 198 1 year, the Lotus Pagoda was rebuilt with donations from celebrities from Hong Kong and Macao.
Guangzhou Panyu Lotus Pagoda was announced as the third batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units in Guangzhou on June 29th, 1989.
