First semester: enthusiastic help stage
Enthusiastic help stage refers to the stage before the counselor makes a specific case in the process of learning theory or after learning theory and taking the national examination.
The characteristic of this stage is that students have just entered the learning stage of consultants, and they can't really understand and digest the basic consulting theory, but they already have some experience and strong enthusiasm for helping others. They will like to answer questions for friends or colleagues, and will take the initiative to solve problems for others. They will be very happy.
The typical feature of the enthusiastic help stage is to quickly determine what the problem is after talking with the helper, and at the same time give the helper strong and excessive emotional support, and then put forward suggestions and solutions according to his own life experience.
The main content of this stage of growth is to study theoretical knowledge in depth. Besides some vocational examinations, we also need to learn a lot of related knowledge, such as marriage and family knowledge, marriage law, inheritance law, law on the protection of minors, basic knowledge of psychological counseling, psychological counseling skills and methods, etc. So as to lay a solid theoretical foundation for entering a higher stage.
Promotion period: the initial stage at a loss
The initial stage of being at a loss refers to the stage when consultants enter the initial stage of doing cases, but they are vulnerable to professional attacks due to lack of clinical experience. The characteristic of this stage is that the consultant will be excited and excited at this stage because he can finally experience and practice the consulting work he hopes. But at the same time, they will also feel helpless, worried and weak in self-confidence. They often feel that their knowledge is not enough, their skills are not so effective, they are worried that their work will hurt visitors, and even a small setback can't stand it, and they doubt their ability.
The main problem at this stage is that once counselors perceive even a little critical language from supervisors or visitors, it will have a serious impact on their self-confidence. They actively seek "the right method and effective technology" and look for experts as role models to follow. So the consultant at this stage always asks the supervisor: "Please tell me, what is the most effective way to solve this problem? How do you deal with this problem? What kind of technology is most effective for this problem? " Many times they forget that these questions they ask are exactly the questions that visitors often ask consultants.
How to grow at this stage? At present, under the condition that the supervision mechanism and conditions in China are not mature enough, consultants at this stage need to spend some financial resources and energy to attend some expert seminars and training courses, but short-term teaching is difficult to achieve the role of supervision, and they must attend some comprehensive and systematic training courses and seminars to really play the role of supervision.
At this time, the courses and workshops that psychological counselors can attend can be selected from the following aspects: workshops in family therapy schools, intermediate continuous training programs of psychoanalysis, behavioral and cognitive training courses, narrative, short-range focus, Morita therapy, hypnotherapy, basic training of psychological counseling, personal growth workshops, group therapy and so on. Choose according to your own characteristics, even if you need a comprehensive understanding, you should study it in depth and match it according to your own feelings. At this stage, the burden of time and financial resources may be heavier, and there is no other way, because the pay is rewarded.
Internship: conservative and cautious exploration stage.
Conservative and cautious exploration stage: Psychological counselors at this stage are usually in the advanced internship or internship stage, and have established a certain foundation and framework on the theoretical and professional level of psychological counseling. In the groping stage, the characteristic is how to do a good job of consulting properly, correctly and effectively, which is the main source of their pressure. Therefore, they usually show a conservative, cautious and rigorous style in their work, in order to pursue "correctness and efficiency".
The problem at this stage is that consultants can realize their progress and growth from the training and supervision activities of consultants. However, they still feel insecure and vulnerable, and the support and help of their peers and superiors are still their crutches.
Consultants at this stage still need the support and affirmation provided by the supervisor, and their role has become more important than before. Further supervision will let the consultants entering this stage see how much knowledge and skills they have learned and how much progress they have made, thus improving their self-confidence and motivation to continue to grow. And lay a solid foundation for entering the real clinical consultation.
Growth period: the experience stage of integration and carding
In the experience stage of integration and combing, the consultant walked out of the state of learning and began to work independently, and really embarked on the clinical practice stage.
This stage has the following characteristics: there is no need to be subject to various requirements of the learning stage, and there will be no too many constraints from the supervisor. You can conduct case consultation according to your own ideas. The years after working independently may be a period of laissez-faire, excitement, creativity, adventurous and tireless. At this stage, the counselor will gradually integrate his personality characteristics into the consultation process with the continuous understanding and acceptance of his personality, thus becoming more confident and comfortable.
At the same time, the consultants at this stage will still face some specific problems. Long-term practice accumulation and various complicated cases can easily cause job burnout in specific industries. If it cannot be solved actively, it will not only affect the consultation effect, but also affect the health of practitioners themselves. Therefore, they still need to accept the supervision of supervisors in stages, or mutual supervision between peers, in order to deal with the problems that they can't handle temporarily, deepen their understanding and acceptance of their own personality and limitations, and continuously improve their consulting ability. Realize the real purpose of "helping others and helping themselves" in another sense.
