The Legend of Wuzhizhou

Wuzhizhou was called Kurosaki Island and Niuqizhou Island in ancient times, and their origins are different.

one

According to legend, there is a river in Sanya. Due to the slash-and-burn by the villagers in the upper reaches, the vegetation was seriously damaged. Whenever mountain torrents break out, the soil and gravel on the mountain will pour down and enter the sea through the Tengqiao River, making the clear water dirty.

The sea dragon king then reported the matter to the Jade Emperor. So the Jade Emperor used his magic sword to cut down a mountain wall at the corner of Qiongnanling, seven kilometers away from here, and ordered two magical cows to block the estuary. Who knows, it was discovered by a person on the road, and the secret was broken. The cow did not move and became two huge stones, and the mountain became an island. So according to the magical legend, this island is named Kurosaki Island, and two huge stones are called sister stones.

Later, when Sanya City was established in Hainan, when the government departments were verifying the place names of various places, local fishermen provided a statement that the island was very similar to a kind of marine life called "Five Fingers", so it was renamed Wuzhizhou, which has been used ever since.

As early as 1986, the Guangdong provincial government named this island Niuqizhou Island according to the Regulations on the Administration of Geographical Names, and in 2006, it was officially named Niuqizhou Island according to relevant regulations.

Secondly,

On the other hand, Wuzhizhou is also called lover island, and there is a beautiful legend about the origin of its name.

A long time ago, a young man was fishing at sea. He was caught in a storm, overturned his boat and drifted to a desert island. On the island, he hunted for a living. One day, he went fishing at the seaside and suddenly found a beautiful girl picking up shells on the beach. He has never found anyone here for so long. Where did she come from? At this moment, the girl is looking at him with a sweet smile! Girls take the initiative to chat with him. It turned out that she was the daughter of the dragon king and ran to the shore to play.

The two chatted very congenially and agreed to meet here every day. As the days passed, neither of them could live without the other, and then they moved in together. Hunting together during the day, walking on the beach together at night, and living a life of admiring only mandarin ducks but not immortals.

A year has passed, and the little dragon girl is homesick, but she can't live without that young man, and she is afraid that her father will blame her if she knows about it. Finally, the two agreed that the little dragon girl would go back and tell the Dragon King about it and let him fulfill them, and meet again at the place where they first met three days later. Since the girl left, the young man stood there waiting for her to come back every day. Three days passed quickly, and the little dragon girl still didn't come back. The young man is anxious to stand on the beach every day and shout the girl's name.

It turned out that when the girl went back, she told the Dragon King about her and the young man. The dragon king was furious and ordered her to be locked up and not allowed to come to earth again. The girl missed the young man day and night, and finally one day she ran out while the guards were unprepared. The dragon king soon knew and followed. Seeing that infatuated men and women were about to embrace each other, the dragon king, who was in hot pursuit, was furious, shouted, and used a braking technique to turn them into two big stones. Thousands of years have passed, and the two big stones that have experienced the baptism of ebb and flow still stand there, quietly facing each other, close at hand but out of reach. Later, people called it "lover island" to commemorate the spoony couple. Nowadays, it has also become a good place for young men and women to whisper and listen to the waves.
