Taizhou, Jiangsu province, an expert in telecommunication engineering and measuring instruments, began to study the coding and informatization of Chinese characters from 1976, and trial-produced the Chinese character identification code, commonly known as "smart ice code". This code was provided in computer systems (such as Huada Chinese System) in the early 1980s. 1980, he became an academician of China Academy of Sciences. As one of the earliest figures in Chinese mainland who studied the computerization of Chinese character processing, he is known as "the pioneer of Chinese character information processing".
1935 graduated from Zhejiang university. 1940 received his doctorate from the School of Physics, University of Leipzig, Germany. Honorary director, chief engineer and researcher of Shanghai Institute of Instrumentation. Participate in the formulation of China's first 12-year science and technology vision plan, and put forward suggestions to promote the development of instrument industry. 1957 engaged in the aging treatment of manganese-copper resistance elements, solved the quality problem of domestic manganese-copper which was responsible for tackling the key quality problems of three key components (gems, bearings and oil wires) of electric meters, organized and studied the manufacturing process and performance testing equipment of hairspring, formulated quality standards, improved the accuracy and stability of electric meters, and made contributions to the establishment of measurement standards in China. Firstly, the research of instrument digitization was organized in China, which contributed to the popularization and application of digital instruments in China. 1976 started the research and trial production of Chinese character editing methods.
1980 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences.
In 23 years, after graduating from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Zhejiang University, he studied in Germany, and first studied in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Dresden University of Technology. In 26 years, he transferred to the School of Physics of Leipzig University. In 33 years, he received a doctorate in natural science. In the meantime, I worked as an engineer in the Blue Point Wireless Power Plant in Germany, and also worked as a Chinese lecturer at Leipzig University and Marburg University.
World War II ended in 34. Wise hopes that the motherland will turn from weak to strong, and is eager to serve the country through science and technology, and has repeatedly refused to recruit talents from the United States in Germany. The following year, with the ambition of "developing science and technology, instruments first", we bought a batch of precision standard instruments and returned to China happily. Recommended by a friend, he served as the director of the electronic laboratory of the Central Industrial Laboratory. When the laboratory has no scientific research funds, it is used to bring back domestic standard instruments and equipment; In the absence of raw materials, cathode line oscilloscopes, electron tube voltmeters, timely standard oscillators and high-intermediate frequency oscillators were all developed under difficult conditions with parts removed from Japanese communication equipment after the defeat. At that time, he was a professor of electrical engineering at Zhejiang University and Tongji University.
After the liberation of Shanghai, Zhi founded the Instrument Factory of Yellow River Institute of Technology, served as manager and engineer, and was employed as a professor of Shanghai Navigation College. 1954 Yellow River Science and Technology Instrument Factory was merged into Shanghai Electric Meter Factory as Deputy Chief Engineer and Director of Central Laboratory. Spending on the long-term strategy of developing domestic instruments and meters, the organization took the lead in establishing a real-time measurement standard system in China and also established a power benchmark for the Shanghai Bureau of Metrology. And gradually explored, solved the technical problems such as the processing technology and measurement of the resistance of the three major components of the instrument-bearing, hairspring and manganese copper wire, significantly improved the accuracy and stability of the domestic instrument and promoted the development of new products. In the early 1960s, the Institute took the lead in organizing the digital research of instruments and successfully developed the first 5-digit DC digital voltmeter in China. Since then, digital instruments have been widely developed in China. I participated in the formulation of the first 12 year science and technology development plan of China, and was responsible for the editing of Electrical Instrument. From 65438 to 0964, he was transferred to Shanghai Institute of Electrical Instrument, and served as chief engineer, deputy director, director and honorary director.
During the Cultural Revolution, Zhi was falsely labeled as a "reactionary academic authority", which made him feel uncomfortable because of the interruption of scientific research activities and worried about the future of the national instrument industry. One day, when I saw the eight characters written on the wall of the isolation room, I read them in a low voice. Suddenly, a research topic has sprouted: can Chinese characters be compiled into a regular code to replace the old method of using four-digit code in telegrams? In this method, there is no regular connection between codes and words, but it depends on memory. Can we further solve the problem that Chinese characters can be directly input into the computer like western languages? On the basis of teaching Chinese in Germany in his early years, he devoted himself to thinking and coded Chinese characters one by one with 26 Latin letters. Later, the famous scientific project of "literacy and code recognition", also known as "matching code", began in the isolation room at home and abroad. At that time, the branch had a pen in its hand and no paper, so it edited dozens of Chinese characters with a teacup cover, and then edited them after wiping them. Without a dictionary, it depends on memory. 1September, 1969, the branch came out of the isolation room and was once put in charge of the waste warehouse. Conditions have improved and the small warehouse has become a sub-laboratory. In the process of serious research, the branch managed to obtain information about Chinese character information processing from developed countries such as the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan Province Province, and made a serious comparison between them, making full use of their strengths and avoiding their weaknesses, thus creating a new road. Zhu's Chinese character coding is different from the font decomposition input method widely used in the world. Instead, it comprehensively analyzes the relationship between pronunciation, font, strokes and pinyin of Chinese characters, uses 1 ~ 4 Latin letters to represent a Chinese character, and formulates simple rules to let you recognize the code when you see the word, and code when you see the word.
After six years of painstaking research, Zhi finished the first draft of Reading Chinese Characters. 1974, when he was short of funds in Beijing, he made a special trip to visit Cao, the vice minister of the first machinery industry, and got Cao's support. Cao also specially recommended "Reading Chinese Characters" to the relevant departments in Shanghai. Thanks to the collaborative research and organizational demonstration of Shanghai Institute of Computing Technology and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Zhi's research on the "literacy and code recognition" input system has finally achieved results, and it has been adopted by Shanghai Telephone Bureau, thus making computer Chinese character input enter a practical stage. The "reading code" is coded with 26 Latin letters, and four Latin letters represent a Chinese character. This coding scheme is based on the dual relationship between pronunciation and font. You can recognize the code when you see the words, and you can code when you see the words, without memorizing. Because the character code of each Chinese character is fixed, it brings great convenience to the storage of computer code and the application of software. This coding has been applied to a certain extent, which has opened the door to the establishment of Chinese computer network and database, and realized the automation of photo typesetting and printing based on electronic computer.
1978 July19, after the front page of Wen Wei Po disclosed this important news, some companies and universities in the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany and other countries wrote letters and telegrams to seek cooperation. Later, the research and production of Chinese character input terminal and Chinese character information processing system were realized. Among them, the "Matching Code" series101Chinese automatic typewriters produced in cooperation with relevant companies in the Federal Republic of Germany and Hong Kong are widely sold at home and abroad. The Chinese character coding method created by Zhi has been recognized by the world computer community, which has promoted the development of Chinese character coding in China and become an internationally renowned expert in Chinese character information processing and instrumentation.
Zhi Yu 1977 was rated as an advanced worker in Shanghai. 1980 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences. 65438-0983, member of the Sixth Shanghai Municipal Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference. Branch, Vice Chairman of China Chinese Information Society, Chairman of China Chinese Character Information Processing Research Association, Honorary Chairman of Shanghai Instrumentation Society.
1991may, when he was 80 years old, he joined the producers' party in China. The branch has always attached importance to personnel training. During his illness and recuperation in his later years, he emphasized that "science and technology are continuous" and earnestly expected that "the latecomers will catch up and revitalize China's instrument industry". In order to train more young and middle-aged scientific and technological talents, we invested 30,000 yuan and set up the "Intellectual Award Fund" in Shanghai Institute of Instrumentation.
His main works include the research on the long-term frequency stability of crystal tuning fork, the development of electronic instrument industry in recent ten years, the establishment of new Chinese character coding method, Chinese character coding method and its implementation in application, Chinese character coding method and its implementation in computer, Chinese character coding method and its engineering device.
