Kapok symbolizes Guangzhou's vigorous career and vitality, inspiring people to serve the motherland. Kapok, alias Panzhihua, Cotton Tree, Hero Flower and Bonfire Tree, belongs to deciduous trees. There are short and thick thorns on the stems and branches, the branches are elongated, palmately compound leaves, alternate, 25 cm to 40 cm long, with 5 to 7 lobules, mostly rectangular or oval.
Rice and cotton are crimson. When they are in full bloom, the branches are full of huge colorful flowers, which are in full swing, dazzling and magnificent, and are known as "hero trees". Kapok usually blooms in March-April every spring, and it is very ornamental when it blooms every year. Its color is bright, mostly red and sometimes orange-red.
Guangzhou is also rich in plumeria, bauhinia and Sedum Babel.
Plumeria has thick branches, juicy leaves and many umbels. Pedicel light red, white corolla outside, short filaments. It is a Mexican plant, growing in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other regions.
Bauhinia, also known as bauhinia, has large flowers, bright colors and long flowering period, and is lush all year round. It has good smoke resistance and is a good greening tree species.
