Qiao Xiaolin's research topic

In the second phase of the lunar exploration project, the "lunar rover" will walk on the moon through the control of the ground system. It has a mechanical arm, which will bring an instrument in place to detect mineral resources on the moon. This instrument is a small mass spectrometer.

The traditional mass spectrometer is only the size of a machine tool and weighs 380 kilograms. Qiao Xiaolin and others will make it reach 1 kg (cup size) through research to facilitate its application on the moon. In the future, through further research, it will become the size of an integrated circuit chip, which will be more useful. As early as April 2006, Qiao Xiaolin led the scientific research team to start the demonstration and experiment of mass spectrometer before participating in the "lunar exploration project". At present, one of the main problems faced by China's satellite communication is the service life of the satellite. Now the service life of satellites is usually only two or three years. One of the reasons is that the battery power supply can't keep up. At present, waste satellite batteries "charge" Ni-MH batteries by absorbing solar energy. However, due to the hydrogen leakage of some batteries during the operation of the satellite, the batteries gradually failed and the power supply was interrupted, resulting in satellite failure. How to extend the life of satellites to accomplish more tasks? Academician Sun Jiadong proposed this subject to Qiao Xiaolin. This is a difficult problem that has puzzled scientists in China for many years. The methods adopted by the United States and Japan require huge equipment and high cost, which is difficult to realize in China. Dr. Chen of Qiao Xiaolin's scientific research team put forward indirect detection by reactive membrane technology after painstaking research, which provided a new idea for solving this problem. At the end of 2006, the simulation test of micro hydrogen leakage detection equipment for satellite Ni-MH battery was approved by experts and established in the country.
