2. Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is divided into several common schools, Morita therapy, mindfulness therapy, psychoanalysis, and other emerging schools (psychoanalysis is rarely used now, because psychoanalysis is actually quite extreme, for example, many depression is caused by suppressing sexual desire and hatred, but from the Buddhist point of view, many depression is caused by too much sexual life, which condones his hatred).
But there is a problem with psychotherapy, that is, the biggest role of psychotherapy is actually listening, and it is difficult to give guidance to improve a person. Anyone who has really seen many psychological counselors knows that the function of psychological counseling is that when a person accumulates too many negative emotions, someone will listen to you. Its "* * * emotion" function far exceeds the guiding function.
Practice meditation
Here we mainly talk about mindfulness meditation and the treatment methods of depression derived from mindfulness (including MBCT and MBSR). This kind of psychotherapy meditation needs the guidance of a special person and a special Dojo (for example, MBSR is an eight-week meditation course). Now many psychological counselors also know a series of mindfulness methods, which can be used in psychological counseling.
Mindfulness meditation originated in Massachusetts, USA. It is a set of meditation courses created by westerners after Buddhist meditation methods were introduced into modern western countries. It is worth noting that mindfulness therapy is really concerned in the west, because it has been clinically tested and found to have statistically significant effects on relieving depressive symptoms and preventing the recurrence of depression. Therefore, only scientific westerners can accept meditation as a metaphysical method.
This is the core point of mindfulness. Mindfulness meditation is actually a meditation that focuses on the present. Its theoretical basis is this: depression does not come from pain, but from the escape from pain. Therefore, we should train to accept everything in the present with an open and optimistic attitude, and then live with an open and optimistic attitude (for example, practice eating a raisin with an open and natural attitude, so as to do everything with an open and natural attitude).
According to the investigation of late school, the real origin of mindfulness meditation should be Southern Buddhism's four thoughts. The original intention of this meditation is to observe the impermanence of physical feelings, replace "knowledge" with "root" and reduce the generation of the sixth consciousness. One of the main reasons why it is effective in clinic is that it can stop distracting thoughts as a meditation, and another reason is that it can get rid of the subjective self of "trying to dominate one's feelings" by observing the impermanence of physical feelings. As a China person, if you have the opportunity to inherit orthodox Buddhist meditation in Shangtai (there are many Dojo in Shangtai, China), you don't need to make any special corrections. Because mindfulness is practiced in Buddhist meditation, it is a subset of meditation practice.

Many people's depression stems from their own desires exceeding their own abilities and blessings, which is called overreaching. (This does not represent all the cases of depression, but quite a few of them do, so solving the problem of desire can at least solve part of the whole problem. )
The essence of all desires is just like what the Buddha said in Journey: Like drinking salt water, the more you drink, the more thirsty you get. If you don't control your desires from the outside, your desires won't control yourself. Because desire will be endless, endless, endless and infinite expansion, and there will never be a time of satisfaction. Anyone can be surpassed by others. If you struggle because you are unwilling to lag behind, it will be endless. Have enough to eat and wear warm clothes, you want a house. If you have a house, you want a bigger house ... endlessly.
The basis of being satisfied without desire is a deep understanding of the bug of human desire, which "will grow all the time and have no end" This is really a bug for human beings. Many people in the world think that some perfect people can have perfect self-control and do whatever they want. But in fact, ordinary people are not that powerful.
For example, a teenager who is addicted to playing games thinks that "I will play for ten minutes, and then I will stop playing after ten minutes", but in fact, after playing for ten minutes, this "desire to play" will not stop by itself. If there is no external edge to stop it, my heart will always concentrate on playing. The thirst after drinking salt water is exactly the same as when not drinking it. It also applies to the human desire to pursue food, beauty, money, lust and so on.
Self-control, energy management and time management in this world law are not mentioned, only Buddha can. For example, the basic assumption of time management is that a person can have very stable control over his own thoughts and do whatever he wants, then the problem of life can be simplified as a macro-management problem. But in fact, such self-control is very difficult for people who don't practice. The precepts are very clean, and those who have a certain meditation foundation can do a little better, provided that they can't meet the outer edge that causes greed.
Another example is the question of "caring about other people's opinions".
The root of many people's depression is the negative emotions caused by the contempt of others. According to Buddhism, you don't have to be too greedy for what others think of you. An Renpin said in "On Entering the Business" that "being praised and enjoying glory is neither a blessing nor a long life, nor is it immunity, nor is it physical happiness. What's the use of praise if I know the profit and loss? " This is to fundamentally see the falsehood of praise, so as to get rid of the greed for praise from others.
For the control method of desire, the solution given by Buddhism is to keep the precepts and keep the root gate (keeping the precepts begins with the five precepts, and keeping the root gate means keeping the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and heart less exposed to greedy environment)
2. Repent karma and accumulate blessings
For very serious depression, the parties have no strength to even carry out basic life. At this time, it is now a bad karma, enjoying the nature of blessing. At this moment, the most effective way is to repent of karma and accumulate blessings. And from the ultimate point of view, there is no way to cure depression through medical treatment, but Buddhism can. Repentance of karma, accumulation of blessings, broad bodhicitta, complete transformation of self-mind, life and death are all possible, and treatment is also entirely possible. But the bigger the illness, the bigger the practice. Practitioners who really fully recover from severe depression have gone through a period of highly intensive practice, chanting and worshiping Buddha many times before they can see the benefits.
The method of confessing karma is four forces: (the names of four forces in different inheritance theories are different, but the contents are exactly the same)
Relying on the right of governance (Buddhist repentance law needs to be in front of the Buddha statue, and self-reliance is the right of governance. For example, the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, the Thirty-Five Buddhas and the Hundred Words Ming (Vajrayana).
Breaking evil is the power of healing (like taking poison to promote repentance for one's evil deeds)
Restore the power of governance (swear not to reproduce such bad karma in the future)
Current governance (doing merits, such as chanting the Buddha Mahasa, Nandu Bodhisattva, chanting the Buddha in a hundred words, doing good deeds and keeping precepts, etc. )
Anything you can remember that you regret, you should repent. For example, eating seafood, disrespecting parents, having some evil thoughts and jealousy, etc. You can't know what caused the physical and mental pain now, but you regret it a little.
The accumulated blessings can be achieved by chanting incantations, heart incantations (that is, various other therapies that will be written later), or by self-practice. Do good deeds as much as possible, and do various blessings such as releasing people, giving alms, helping the poor, and supporting monks.
Entering the industry, he said, "What good is it for relatives and friends if the magic envoy comes to hold it? Only blessing can save lives, but I didn't fix it. "
The Pharmacologist's Classic says: "Haven't you heard that Tathagata has a narrow escape? I advise you to be a lamp to continue your life and repair blessings, so as to repair blessings and make the best use of them without suffering."

It contains all the methods of practicing Buddhism. For example, people often say that worshipping Buddha includes big worship, praising Tathagata includes chanting scriptures, and often believe that Buddha also includes offering lamps, water and food.
The most important thing is to cultivate bodhicitta. This may not be easy for newcomers to Buddhism, but to solve some ultimate spiritual problems, it is not necessarily enough to rely on charity without bodhicitta, and it is more stable to be bodhicitta.
Stop watching meditation
There are two kinds of meditation: stopping and observing.
"Stop" is mainly the practice of meditation, watching breathing and so on. Patients with particularly confused minds insist on practicing this method, which can effectively reduce their disorder.
The practice of "Guan" needs an empty foundation, which is also very difficult, but it is especially ultimate in solving the problem of depression. From a practical point of view, all pain comes from persistence, and all troubles are out of the category of ignorance and persistence. Self-cultivation is to turn over the self-attachment from all angles and clean it up. With the reduction of self-attachment, the troubles will gradually be alleviated.
Meditation is a very practical thing, which has no effect in theory and must be practiced in practice. If it is convenient to go to the Vipassana Center, it is recommended to go to a guided ashram retreat (this may not be practical for people with very serious depression), and secondly, it is recommended to study on the Internet.
For people with good learning ability and good emptiness, the study of law is also a good way to cultivate emptiness. It can also cure troubles.
Buddhism's Heteronomy to Governance
Here I mainly rely on the strength of various gods, buddhas and bodhisattvas to get rid of my illness. The way to get rid of bad karma is to use one's own fortune or the divine power of Buddha and Bodhisattva.

The mantra of not moving Buddha is also a great mantra to eliminate karma.
There are two kinds of widely circulated spells: angry Buddha and silent Buddha. The angry Buddha mantra is a short mantra, "Omzan Zama Harugang", and the silent Buddha mantra is a long mantra. You can look at the recordings and related revelations of King Dabao. As an angry mantra, the Buddha's Heart Immortality Mantra has a powerful power to calm troubles and treat the negative effects of dragons and ghosts.

The practice of pharmacist Buddha is especially suitable for all living beings with physical illness. Depression is usually a physical and mental disease. At this time, it is very beneficial to the physical recovery of all beings to practice the pharmacist method and study the pharmacist's classics.
The pharmacist's method is also clearly stated in the scriptures, which can treat the situation that all beings are absorbed by evil spirits. Moreover, the pharmacist method is also a good way to eliminate karma and increase happiness.

The solution of pure land method has two angles:
First of all, the pure land of Amitabha has the characteristics of "blessing", so reading the blessing of Amitabha also has the blessing power to make the body and mind peaceful. Everyone who has seen it has their own feelings.
The second is Pure Land Buddhism, which is a unique way to get rid of life while alive, and gives practitioners who are bent on learning Buddhism a hope: if I practice well, my life will end in ten or decades at most, and I won't have to face so many troubles when I die. Moreover, the most important thing is that chanting Buddha can "die well". Many patients with severe depression will struggle with what kind of suicide is better, and after thinking about it, they can't find a way to leave this world happily. Buddhists, on the other hand, can die peacefully without chaos, and even stand firm and show their true colors. This is very attractive for a depressed person.
4 Tibetan king bodhisattva
As a "all-wish law", the law of the earth treasure king has a great fate with all beings in China. The effect of praying for the full wish of Tibetan Bodhisattva is beyond the reach of other methods. Here I want to say that the world view of Mahayana Buddhism is that the world of Bodhisattva is the world tuned by Sakyamuni Buddha.
