Located at the foot of Xuanwu Mountain in jieshi town, it covers an area of 15 hectares, with pleasant scenery and rich cultural relics. It is the center of Minnan family belief at home and abroad. Yuanshan Temple, a famous Buddhist temple, is now the seat of Lu Fengxian Buddhist Association.
The temple was built in the first year of Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 127). In the twenty-seventh year of Ming Hongwu, it was rebuilt into Xuanwu Temple, and in the fifth year of Ming Wanli, it was expanded into Yuanshan Temple. After several renovations in Ming, Qing and Republic of China, it is now quite large.
The Yuanshan Temple is magnificent and the building is extraordinary. Built on the mountain, it is a group of symmetrical palace-style quadrangles. The three halls lead directly to the main hall along many steps. The temple pattern design is accurate, and the shading winding path extends in all directions. There are 99 buildings such as mountain gate, front hall, middle hall, attached hall, hall, monk's room and porch. Its overall architecture combines religious architecture, palace architecture, residential architecture and garden architecture, which has distinctive local architectural characteristics. Its architectural structure is rigorous, with overlapping arches, high ridges and cornices, carved beams and painted buildings, and traditional porcelain stickers, which fully embodies the wisdom and superb architectural technology of our working people. The temple is resplendent and magnificent; Carving dragons and painting phoenixes at the main entrance, beautifully decorated; The two stone lions on both sides of the gate are mighty and lively, just like two conscientious guards guarding the Yuanshan Temple day and night.
As soon as you enter the temple gate, you can see many precious historical relics on display, including the bronze statue of Zhenwu in the Arctic in the Song Dynasty, the wooden statue of Sakyamuni and the incense burner of Xuande in the Ming Dynasty, the Wei Biao tablet given by the Tongzhi emperor in the Qing Dynasty, the Shuideling dragon tablet given by the national hero Lin Zexu in the Qing Dynasty, and the Chinese cultural name tablet inscribed by Liu Yongfu, the leader of the Black Flag Army. Yuanshan Temple is one of the largest and most well-preserved religious temples in eastern Guangdong, and it is also a key cultural relic protection unit and a key scenic spot in Guangdong Province. Behind the Yuanshan Temple is Fuxing Leita (commonly known as Xuanshan Tower). The dry tower is octagonal, * * * 3 stories high, 18.8m, and the tower foundation circumference is 24m. * * * It is a giant ancient art building composed of more than 5340 pieces of granite. Climbing the stairs, the first floor is the Sanyuan Palace, whose name is inscribed by Shang Chengzuo, and the second floor is Wenchang Pavilion, whose name is inscribed by Li Ni. The third layer is Yuan Kui, inscribed by Qin Jisheng. On each floor of the tower, there are four Zhou Qunlong with beads, which are different in posture and lifelike. There are several bronze bells hanging on the top floor, and the wind is jingling and the sound is crisp and mellow. It was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and rebuilt in the 1980s. The abutment is 1.5 meters high and 22 meters wide, with simple shape and magnificent momentum. All kinds of wood carvings, figures, flowers and birds are lifelike in various forms. There is also a plaque inscribed by Li Wentian, a Guangdong epigraphist in the Qing Dynasty. There are also little-known historical sites at the foot of Xuanwu Mountain, such as the acropolis site, the ancient fort in shallow Australia, guangde temple, Gongde Temple, Chenghuang Temple, Jifu Temple, Kezan Temple, and the Nanguan Ancient Temple in Shizhou. The Ancient Acropolis was built in the 27th year of Hongwu, located at the foot of Longquan Mountain and surrounded by jieshi town. Because the cornerstone is a pavilion, climb high and overlook the mountains and seas. Located at the ends of the earth, about five kilometers away from jieshi town, the shallow-ao ancient fort was built in Qing Dynasty. It is the gateway to jieshi town. Standing in the castle, you can climb mountains and see the sea. The endless water and sky are the same color, and it is a bit of a sail. Tianwei Mountain is surrounded by mountains and seas, and has the most sculptural sea pillars, wave troughs and other landforms. At low tide, exotic and colorful sea pillars (sea stones, sea mushrooms, turtles, sails, sea immortals, phoenixes, sea dragons, walruses, etc. ) are displayed in front of tourists, as if they were in a vast sea sculpture park, which is fascinating. Then there are the shady ancient banyan trees in Tianhou Palace and Qian 'ao Village at the foot of Tianwei Mountain, granite stone eggs at the top of the mountain, underwater parks and mirage on the sea. These cape stone forests, strange stones and strange lights form a tourist attraction with the scenery on the horizon.
