Having raised hundreds of animals, Lu Junyi, a tadpole teacher, chose to bring the "animal teacher" into the classroom to attract children who are unfamiliar with or afraid of nature, and then encouraged them to leave the classroom and go to the big school of nature.

Lu Junyi, a tadpole teacher who just returned from the fishing port, walked into the coffee shop with four breeding boxes and the smell of sea breeze. As soon as he sat down, he excitedly shared with reporters his trip to the fishing port and tomorrow's "Dissecting Sharks" course. "Because the children can't go to the fishing port with us, I brought back what I saw in the fishing port to show them. Lu Junyi laughed and said that raising animals, introducing favorite animals to children and showing children the nature encyclopedia are Lu Junyi's favorite things, which is also the original intention of his creation of "Tadpole Pond Natural Creativity".

Growing up in Ruifang seaside, Lu Junyi's childhood was full of memories accompanied by animals. "I have raised turtles, crayfish, ducks and lizards, which are animals found in the wild, or what is in my grandfather's shop, I will catch them back and raise them. Lu Junyi recalled his childhood and laughed that he liked to observe animals since childhood. He once filled his father's fish tank with "Kadina" biscuits and watched the fish eat. Lu Junyi said, "I can hardly imagine a child's childhood without the role of animals. 」?

After graduating from the Entomology Department of National Taiwan University, Lu Junyi was invited by a friend to give an insect lesson to his friend's children. "About three years old children, I want to say is too small, but just give it a try. Lv Junyi didn't expect this attempt to let him find the future direction of life.

"I found that I like preparing lessons and then taking my children to observe animals. This is a sense of accomplishment. Lu Junyi found the happiness and sense of achievement in sharing knowledge from the children's surprised eyes. Therefore, he set up a tadpole pond natural culture creation, with children aged three to twelve as the main teaching objects, and began to hold camps and courses to take children to observe animals and understand them.

From the beginning, I didn't dare to approach, and I was excited to discuss the observation results, which made Lu Junyi feel very fulfilled. Provided by Lu Junyi

Why set the age of children at three to twelve? Lu Junyi believes that preschool children aged three to six have more time to get along with animals and nature, and it is easier for them to change their concept of nature and cultivate their long-term interest in observing ecology.

Children between the ages of seven and twelve can introduce animals, participate in the discussion of environmental issues and increase the depth of the course. Lu Junyi also encourages parents to attend classes together. Being accompanied by parents can not only increase the time between parents and children, but also cultivate the same interests and topics.

Holding a colorful chameleon in his hand, carefully explain to the child what a chameleon looks like. The child stared at the reptile with a long tongue in front, and the bolder child reached out and touched the chameleon's back. This is Lu Junyi's indoor class. Different from ordinary outdoor natural ecology courses, Lu Junyi chose to bring "animal teacher" into the classroom.

"Some people will think that this seems to be a gimmick, but now you want children to go outdoors to see snakes, and they don't want to. But after your snake class, let them go outdoors to find snakes, and they will definitely be super willing. Lu Junyi explained that indoor courses are designed to arouse children's interest and make them willing to take the initiative to explore and learn.

For example, Lu Junyi once went to a primary school to give a lecture on snakes. After the lecture that day, the director of the primary school called Lu Junyi and said, "All the books related to snakes in the library have been borrowed. Using indoor courses to arouse children's desire to discuss, and then bring them into outdoor courses, or let children learn independently, is the course effect that Lu Junyi expects.

In order to expose children to different animals, Lu Jun keeps 100 kinds of animals, including reptiles, fish and mammals, which can bring different surprises to children every time. He said with a wry smile that although the cost is much higher than going outdoors to observe, it can make the courses more diversified and give the team more resources to design new courses. "In this way, other teachers in the team don't need to consider where to find animals when designing courses. 」

The effect of the course is very good, attracting more and more parents to take their children with them. Lu Junyi began to hold outdoor courses. He takes his children to the zoo for lessons. Unlike visiting the zoo, Lu Junyi designed 20 themed courses such as "Xiong Maji" to introduce different Xiong Ke animals in the zoo to children. He uses different themes to help children observe animals more carefully and learn knowledge.

At the same time, the curriculum should be done by children as much as possible. He took his children and designed toys for animals with waste paper boxes, so that children could understand the living environment of different animals and their individual needs. Children not only study in class, but also combine their imagination and knowledge to create works.

However, not all courses are paid by parents.

He once spent a lot of time designing an ocean course. In the course, he not only took his children to the fishing port to see the sharks caught, but even cooperated with the professors of Taiwan Province National Ocean University to try to show them the problem of shark overfishing. Although the intention is good, the enrollment is not ideal. "My parents said, and I can't see a real shark." Lv Junyi said helplessly. However, he was not discouraged and said that he would continue to develop new courses in the future and try to integrate more ecological issues into the curriculum.

Such a rich course has made many children become his loyal fans. He took his children to climb mountains, take paths, go to the seaside, and even cooperated with Shoushan Zoo in Kaohsiung to spend the night with them. "What I am doing now is to bring back to the children what impressed me when I was a child. Lu Junyi, who has always been childlike, passed on his first experience of being touched by nature to his students.

A child said to Lu Junyi, "I want to be an insect teacher like you in the future." Lu Junyi was very moved. He said, "I don't expect him to achieve it in the future, but I think it would be great if I could influence him and turn him into an interest or even an ability." 」

In order to influence more children, Lu Junyi even applied for the job of children's program host. "At that time, I thought that my last class would affect at most forty or fifty children, but if I could affect 1000 children at a time, how could I not do it?" Although he was not selected in the end, he is now working with Animal Planet Channel to influence more children by teaching movies and speaking courses.

He has been a tadpole teacher for ten years. He has never forgotten that ten years ago, an innocent director urged, "You should remember your enthusiasm for class now." Every class, even after a hundred times, Lu Junyi is still as enthusiastic as his first class, even more enthusiastic than the first class. "I hope every class can be a little better than the last class. Lu Junyi said.

In order to give children more and better experiences, he prepares lessons, attends classes, spends a lot of time exploring and excavating new course contents, and his life is very busy. But he doesn't seem tired at all. Whenever he talks about classes or animals, he will smile and share many interesting things in class. For Lu Junyi, he is happy to take his children to observe his favorite animals.
