The national handicraft industry in Changdu area has a long history, complex and diverse processes, exquisite production skills and unique features, which have a great influence in Kangqu. In particular, the Gama handicraft industry, located in the upper reaches of Zhaqu River and 20 kilometers away from Changdu County/KLOC-0, is quite famous in Tibet and has become the historical development center of ethnic handicrafts in Changdu area.

In ancient times, Gama Township was called "the hometown of craftsmen". According to relevant historical records, the Gama Temple, which was built in A.D. 1 185, was designed by local painter Dui Ricang. It can be seen that the painting history in this area can be traced back to at least seven or eight hundred years ago. /kloc-In the middle of the 6th century, three generations of Tashi absorbed the painting methods such as mainland landscape painting on the basis of the original "Meilin" and "Mesa" painting schools, and established a unique "Gaxue Gazhi" painting school, which existed as an important school of Tibetan Thangka painting. The main characteristics of this school are neat pictures, rigid and smooth lines, delicate figures, vivid expressions and bright colors, and they are good at drawing portraits of flowers, trees, waterfalls and gods and buddhas.

In addition, Qamdo region also has Chaidu Wengdagang, which was formed in the late14th century with the theme of creating various Buddha statues enshrined in temples. The wisdom of Tibetan, Han, Mongolian, Naxi, Nepal, India and other ethnic craftsmen has continuously enriched Qamdo, served for religious, production and other ethnic handicraft products, and gradually formed the historical basis of Qamdo's ethnic handicraft industry and its own unique national style.

At present, there is still an active team of craftsmen in Qamdo, who carve, paint and dye all ethnic groups. They adorned the life of people in Xizang with infinite wisdom and hard-working hands, and their influence spread to neighboring Qinghai Province, Ganzi Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province and Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province.
