Yixing was called Jingyi in ancient times and belonged to Wu in the Spring and Autumn Period. In the 26th year of Qin Shihuang (22 1 year BC), the county was established, and Jingyi was changed to Yangxian. From the second year of Tai 'an to the fourth year of Yongjia in the Western Jin Dynasty (303-3 10), the court established Yixing County in recognition of Zhou Gui (the eldest son of Zhou Chu), which was subordinate to Yangzhou.
In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (589), it was renamed Yixing County, belonging to Changzhou. In the first year of Xingguo in Song Taiping (976), Yixing County was changed to Changzhou to avoid the taboo of Zhao Guangyi. Yongzheng four years (1726), divided into Yixing and Jingxi counties. In the first year of the Republic of China (19 12), Jingxi county was abolished and merged into Yixing county.
