Since the establishment of the city, Weihai's national economy and transportation have developed greatly. The total industrial and agricultural output value 1987 reached 5.2 billion yuan, and the foreign trade export purchase amount reached 628 million yuan. Tao Wei Railway is a first-class local railway built by self-financing in Weihai, with a total length of138km and a total investment of 650 million yuan. Taocun Station starts from China Railway Blue Smoke Line in the west and connects with China Railway Blue Smoke Line in the east, and passes through five counties and cities in Qixia, Mu Ping, Rushan, Wendeng and Huancui District 17 township. There are 14 railway stations along the line. The project started construction on September 2, 20021and 1999, and was completed and put into use on September 30, 2002.
