Yiwu, formerly known as "Wu Shang", is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China. Jinhua-Yiwu (central Zhejiang) ranks alongside Hangzhou (northern Zhejiang), Ningbo (eastern Zhejiang) and Wenzhou (southern Zhejiang) as four regional central cities in Zhejiang Province. Yiwu is located in the middle of Zhejiang Province, in the east of Jinqu Basin, surrounded by mountains in the east, south and north. The length from north to south is 58. 15km, and the width from east to west is 44.4 1km, with an area of 1, 105km2.
Yiwu county was founded in 222 BC. By the end of 20 12, the registered population of Yiwu was 7533 12.
Yiwu is the first and only national comprehensive reform pilot of county-level cities in China, and has been awarded the honorary titles of China National Health City, National Environmental Protection Model City, China Excellent Tourism City, National Garden City and Zhejiang Civilized Model City. Yiwu International Trade City was awarded the first AAAA shopping and tourist area in China by the National Tourism Administration.
Yiwu is one of the six counties (cities) in Chinese mainland. Its per capita income level and luxury car density rank first in Chinese mainland, and it is also one of the richest regions in China, ranking first among the richest county-level cities in China 10 published by Forbes. Yiwu is the world's largest distribution center for small commodities, and has been recognized as the world's largest market by international authorities such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
Yiwu is one of the first demonstration cities in China to establish a social credit system.
