Kang Youwei's former residence, located at No.5 Fushan Bypass, Shinan District, Qingdao, was built at 1899. It is a three-story German brick-wood building, which was the official residence of the Governor's Office during the German occupation. From 65438 to 0924, Mr. Kang Youwei bought this house as an apartment and died here on March 1927. Now it is under special protection in Shandong Province.
Kang Youwei was the leader of the modern reformists in China. After the failure of the Reform Movement of 1898, Mr. Kang Youwei was overseas for a long time and was able to return to China after the Revolution of 1911. 19 17 When he came to Qingdao for the second time, the municipal authorities arranged for him to collapse here. Mr. Wang was very satisfied with this place, bought it and improved it the next year. Mr Hou got to know cultural dignitaries here and devoted himself to calligraphy research, so his former residence enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.
Qingdao attaches great importance to the maintenance of the former residence, 1986 restoration is open to the outside world. At that time, Liu Haili, an 86-year-old disciple of Kang Youwei, wrote an inscription for Kang Youwei's former residence and his tomb. At the beginning of 2000, according to the spirit of the motion of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, the Qingdao Municipal Government allocated special funds for comprehensive maintenance by the Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau, which was officially opened to the public during the National Day of the same year.
After restoration and maintenance, the construction area of Kang Youwei's former residence is 1 128 square meters, and the main rooms are basically restored to their original appearance. When Kang Youwei came to the Qing Dynasty, Puyi, the second generation Prince Gong of Qing Dynasty who lived in Qingdao at that time, wanted to move his family to Dalian. They have a close personal relationship, so Pu Wei gave all her furniture to her husband. The living room, reception room, study and other indoor furniture of the former residence were all given by the prince at that time. Although Kang Youwei's former residence is not luxurious, it is very elegant enough to reflect Mr. Kang's aesthetics. After the restoration and opening of the exhibition hall of Kang Youwei's former residence, two exhibitions were added: the photo exhibition of Kang Youwei's life and the rare exhibition of Kang Youwei's collection. The photo exhibition introduces Mr. Wang's bumpy struggle and tireless pursuit of truth with detailed information and rich pictures. The collection displays Kang Youwei's original calligraphy, second-hand utensils and artistic treasures collected by Mr. Kang at home and abroad. Many treasures donated by Mr. Kang's descendants also met with the audience. Many cultural relics in these two exhibitions are the first time to meet the audience, which has very important historical value and cultural relics research value.
Historical photos, documents and objects of Kang Youwei's life and the Reform Movement of 1898, as well as monographs and articles about Kang Youwei by famous experts and scholars at home and abroad. The three exhibition rooms of the former residence display Kang Youwei's relics and funerary objects respectively, and introduce Kang Youwei's birth, death, burial and relocation in Qingdao, as well as the Chinese and foreign cultural relics and calligraphy works collected by Kang Youwei before his death.
The former residence of Qingdao Kang Youwei has been engaged in Kang Youwei's research for a long time, and has collected a large number of related pictures and cultural relics, forming a comprehensive professional museum integrating collection, exhibition and research.
