He served as Secretary-General of the Chinese Olympic Committee, First Vice-President of FIVB, Senior Consultant of BOCOG, Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, President of Beijing Olympic Economic Research Association and President of FIVB 12 years.
Besides working in FIVB and Asian Volleyball Federation, Wei Jizhong is also committed to the development of sports in China. From 65438 to 0986, Wei Jizhong was appointed Secretary-General of the Chinese Olympic Committee and then became Vice-Chairman.
From 65438 to 0990, Wei Jizhong was then the Secretary-General of the Chinese Olympic Committee, responsible for hosting and participating in the bid for the 2000 Olympic Games. Wei Jizhong foresaw that there was little hope of success in this Olympic bid, but he still didn't give up. In the final, the Beijing team lost to Sydney by two votes, and Wei Jizhong deeply blamed himself.
In the bid for the 2008 Olympic Games, Wei Jizhong's work shifted from the front desk to the backstage, becoming the special assistant to the chairman of the 2008 Olympic bid committee.
Wei Jizhong participated in the torch relay at Nagano Station of the 1998 Winter Olympics.
On August 6th, 2008, the Olympic flame was passed in Beijing, and Wei Jizhong became the 335th torchbearer.
