Yahweh's shorthand in Lahu language
In China, from 1896, Cai Xiyong's "Phonetic Alphabet Fast Characters", Chinese shorthand gradually formed five systems and more than 200 schemes. Yunnan is the province with the largest number of ethnic minorities in China, and its national character is colorful. Foreign missionaries designed "Old Lahu Language" for foreign missionaries, and "New Lahu Language" was developed on the basis of "Old Lahu Language". There are many books such as laws and regulations, popular science books and bilingual teaching materials translated and published in the new Lahu language, but the recording and writing speed of this language is slow. Yahweh's shorthand in Lahu is a pioneering work to solve this contradiction. This pioneering work is based on the most popular "ellipsis system" in China (the "streamline system" for standardizing Chinese shorthand in Yahweh) and an in-depth study of the characteristics of the new Lahu language. It uses the Lahu language to provide convenience and improve efficiency, and at the same time, it can play a positive role in accelerating the literacy work in Lahu areas.
Yahweh Lahu shorthand has 30 phonetic symbols and 19 phonograms. The preparation of phonetic symbols is a combination of ellipse and shorthand, and the rhyme symbol is a round symbol, which connects each "sound" with "line". It is characterized by fluency, conciseness and beauty, easy learning, easy writing and easy translation. It has played an exemplary role in shorthand of various languages of the Yi branch of the Tibeto-Burman language family in the Sino-Tibetan language family.
A few years ago, with the help of Party committees and government leaders at all levels in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, the Cultural Bureau of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County and the National Language Steering Committee of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County held a pilot training course on "Yahweh Lahu shorthand", which achieved good results. The Science and Technology Committee of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County investigated this.
