How to become a real ERP practitioner

(1)ERP industry: the entry is shallow, relying on accumulation. Many people find it difficult to enter the ERP industry. In fact, as long as you are familiar with this foundation through computer operation, you can get started. Now ERP products are basically menu-based, and the operation is getting simpler and simpler. Then they can master the basic business process knowledge of the enterprise, such as purchasing process, sales process and so on. Basically, you can engage in domestic software, but you can't engage in foreign software such as SAP or ORACLE. Many functions need to be configured, which takes time or effort. If you want to be an implementation manager or a project manager, you need years of accumulation, accumulating the characteristics and knowledge of various industries, as well as different management models or business processes adopted by different enterprises; If you want to be a senior person or consultant, you need to accumulate knowledge of enterprise management strategy and information strategy, and provide effective management consultation for enterprises with different characteristics or perspectives, including management mode, business process and industry development. The most direct way to accumulate experience is to do more projects, especially to deal with different leaders of enterprises with humility. Accumulation is a painful process. We should not only be grateful and humble, but also be diligent and set an example for others. Nowadays, more and more young consultants go to work after months of training. They are quick products and only know the functions of the products. We must persist in accumulating ERP experience, and successful people in the industry have come by unremitting persistence.

(2)ERP industry: Have a good attitude and think more. There is a strange phenomenon in ERP industry. Whether it is an old consultant or a young consultant, the mentality will not be too good. I think it has a lot to do with occupation. ERP product is a combination of technology and management science, which not only needs to follow the characteristics of computer language programs, but also needs to be realized in combination with enterprise management science. Therefore, it is often difficult to explain clearly to customers or superior leaders, resulting in many misunderstandings. The customer said that the computer system was unexpected and impossible. Business leaders say that some software can do it, why can't your software do it? If you meet a grumpy client or a concerned leader again, the consultant should have strong psychological endurance. Many consultants who have been engaged in ERP for many years will have these questions: I have been engaged in ERP for many years. What can I do besides pay in the future? Facing the arrival of my family and children, how can I give them a complete and happy home? These are prone to anxiety, and their mentality is seriously affected. There are also many consultants who always think that they have done many projects, sincerely underestimate their clients, and have a condescending attitude, which is very easy to produce contradictions. The characteristics of ERP industry determine these, and adjusting the mentality will be an essential requirement for ERP practitioners.

(3)ERP industry: stand tall and know more. As mentioned earlier, ERP products are a combination of technology and management science. As a good consultant, we must communicate from a technical or management perspective to understand the needs of customers or enterprises. The needs of different strata in the enterprise are different, and the operation layer pays attention to the simplicity and ease of operation; Middle-level attention reporting and analysis; Pay attention to enterprise development and management control. Only by understanding the characteristics of the enterprise or the knowledge of the industry can we produce the same language and successfully complete the project implementation or acceptance.
