Officials say he died of "acclimatization" or "overwork", but folklore says: "I was humiliated and swallowed gold." A.D. 1772, in the thirty-seventh year of Qianlong, and thirty-four years after the death of Ha Sheng Yuan, another general of the Ha nationality, Ha Guoxing, died in the camp of Xiaojinchuan Campaign. In a.d. 1773, in the thirty-eighth year of Qianlong, the emperor Qianlong wrote the following eulogy in recognition of the immortal feats of Hejian Ha Group represented by Ha. It reads between the lines: "The Midlands are back, and they are brave and good at fighting. They are a big family of Haqi, and they plant them every time they come out."
