Why do hairtail and octopus swim from south to north?

Hairtail, large yellow croaker, small yellow croaker and cuttlefish are called the products of China's four oceans. Hairtail, Pseudosciaena crocea and Pseudosciaena crocea are migratory fish, and they swim between different sea areas in the north and south with the change of seasonal water temperature.

Hairtail is flat and strip-shaped, covered with silvery white, with a big mouth and long teeth. Inhabits in the middle and lower water layers during the day and rises to the sea surface at night. When swimming, it does not paddle with its fins, but swings from side to side like waves.

Every year around beginning of winter, the Yellow Sea fish from the south, the South China Sea fish from the north and the deep-sea fish from the shore "meet" near the food-rich Zhoushan Islands, forming a big fishing season in the East China Sea in winter. They stop and go, winding, hundreds of kilometers, batch after batch, as many as 70 batches, and the time is as long as 80 days.

Hairtail in China can be divided into two types: northern zone and southern zone. The northern ocean is called the northern belt, which is strong. In winter, northern hairtail migrates from the East China Sea to the Bohai Sea, forming a spring fishing season. After spawning, they began to move southward in autumn for food and came to the East China Sea.

The southern ocean is called the southern belt, which is small and fat. In winter, the southern hairtail migrates to the South China Sea for the winter, and the following spring begins to spawn and migrate, forming a spring fishing season. After laying eggs, they arrive near the Yangtze River estuary in autumn, looking for bait for migration.

During the spawning season, male and female hairtail shuttles back and forth in the sea water, chasing each other. Female fish lay eggs, and male fish excrete sperm. A female fish can lay about 70 thousand eggs, and the eggs drift with the tide, dense and dense. It takes only 4 days for fertilized eggs to hatch into hairtail several millimeters long, such as needle tip and wheat awn.

Yellow croaker overwinters in the deep sea, migrates to the offshore for spawning every spring, and then migrates to the offshore for food after spawning.

There are two kinds of yellow croaker: large yellow croaker and small yellow croaker. They are similar in appearance but different in size.

Pseudosciaena crocea is afraid of both heat and cold, so most of them live in the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian all the year round, and only in winter and spring will they appear in large numbers in the coastal areas of Guangdong. From the coastal areas of Jiangsu to the north, it is rarely seen. During the breeding season, they live in dense groups in the middle layer near the sea, and the females keep making "croaking" sounds. The whole spawning ground is very lively, just like the croaking of frogs in summer nights. The singing is caused by the contraction of fish abdominal muscles and the friction with the swim bladder. This is a means of courtship and information exchange between the same kind. Pseudosciaena crocea lays 654.38 million+to 654.38 million +0 billion eggs each time.

The living habits of small yellow croaker are different from those of large yellow croaker. They hide underwater during the day and swim to the upper and middle layers at dusk and dawn to feed on fish, shrimp and shellfish. Similar to the recipe of large yellow croaker, the swim bladder can also make sounds.

The distribution of small yellow croaker is much wider than that of large yellow croaker, which can be divided into Beiyang yellow croaker and Nanyang yellow croaker.

In spring, the water temperature of the Yellow Sea rises, and the small yellow croaker in the Yellow Sea wintering ground near Jeju Island heads for the Bohai Sea in droves along the Shandong Peninsula, and reaches the Yellow River Estuary, Dagukou and Yingkou in May to find suitable places for spawning and foraging.

In autumn, the water temperature in the Bohai Sea slowly decreases, and the small yellow croaker leaves the Bohai Sea with its young fish. In early winter, it returns to the Yellow Sea wintering ground for winter.

Small yellow croaker wintering in the southeast coast of Zhejiang Province began to lay eggs in Zhoushan Islands or Jiangsu coast in spring, and a few went south to Fujian coast to lay eggs, and then migrated to the wintering place in the East China Sea in winter.

The migration of yellow croaker has certain rules, and the time and route are basically the same every year. People have mastered this law and cast a huge net on the spot, and they can get a bumper harvest in fisheries.
