The Qingshui Garden in the University Hall is the victory of swimming.

In the history of Academy, there were temple names such as Qingshuiyuan and Lingquan Temple, all of which were related to a flowing spring in the temple. A steady stream of mountain springs moistens the grass and trees of the ancient temple, bringing infinite vitality to the ancient temple. The mountain spring water in the temple originates from the Li Ziyu Canyon outside the temple and flows into the temple. The spring water is cool and sweet. At that time, when monks built temples here, the primary factor to consider was the mountain spring that circulated around the temple day and night. Spring water is not only an important drinking water in temples, but also an important part of temple landscape, forming a wonderful scenery surrounded by mountains and rivers. As early as Liao and Jin Dynasties, the Academy was a famous tourist attraction. There is such a record in the temple of the Liao Dynasty ancient monument "Yang Taishan Qingshuiyuan creates Tibetan scriptures": "Yang Taishan is the peak of thistle soil; Those who are in Qingshuiyuan will win the swim. "

The water system of Xueyuan is based on the east-west spring, which is consistent with the flow direction of natural surface water. It flows down along the terrain high in the west and low in the east. There is a pond dug on the ground in the yard and the water flows into a canal. Mountain springs surround the temple, forming many waterscapes such as Longtan, Shiqu, Biyun Qingchi and Gongde Pool. After the spring water enters the temple, it is divided into two waterlines. The spring water on the North Road is like a stream, flowing and flowing, passing through the Yun Xuan, the bamboo forest and the clear pool of blue clouds, and flowing into the merit pool in the front yard. The waterline of South Road flows out of Longtan Mountain in the shape of a triple waterfall, joins the Houshi Canal in Yun Xuan, passes through the courtyard of Siyitang, and finally flows into Gongde Pool. Looking down from the mountain, two springs are swaying, just like two dragons playing with pearls. Double springs from outside the temple run through the whole temple, which are not only used as drinking water, but also create multi-level water features, connecting Longtan and pools of different sizes and shapes in series to form colorful water features. The ponds and ditches distributed in the temple are convenient to receive a large amount of accumulated water in the rainy season in mountainous areas, which not only solves the diversion and drainage of mountain torrents, but also constitutes a unique spring scene in the courtyard. The excavation of artificial waterscape in the courtyard is also in line with natural principles. From the spring to the pool, the stream comes out of the pool and meets the pool. Introducing spring water into all parts of the courtyard creates a scene where spring water and fish play around the temple, giving people a fresh, harmonious, beautiful and smart feeling everywhere.

Historically, there are many springs in the northwest of Beijing, and there are abundant springs. However, with the passage of time and the change of ecological environment, natural water sources are gradually decreasing, and groundwater is decreasing year by year. Many springs have dried up, and the Academy is no exception. We know that spring water is a form of groundwater exposed to the surface. Due to the lack of local groundwater recharge, a large number of mining will cause the groundwater level in this area to drop, and many springs naturally cannot be exposed to the surface. Fortunately, with the comprehensive management and ecological restoration of Yongding River fully implemented, the Beijing section of Yongding River, which has been cut off for 25 years, has been fully drained, and the groundwater in front of Xishan Mountain has also been restored and conserved. Ecological water supply makes the groundwater level around Yongding River rise in different degrees as a whole. I believe that in the near future, the mountain spring water that has been away for many years will also flow around the temples of Daixue Temple in Xishan.
