Wuhan (Wǔhàn) is the capital of Hubei Province, China, with a population of about 9.7 million. It is the largest city in central China and one of the seven central cities in Chinese mainland. The Yangtze River, the third largest river in the world, and the Hanshui River, its largest tributary, divide Wuhan into three parts, forming a pattern of Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang separated by a river. Li Bai, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote here that "the Jade Emperor blows the Yellow Crane Tower and plum blossoms fall into the river in May", so Wuhan has been called "the river city" since ancient times. In the late Qing Dynasty, the National Government and the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wuhan was once the largest inland city in China and among the best in Asia, so it was once known as "Chicago of the East". Wuhan is also the birthplace of the Republic of China.
Wuhan is a famous cultural city with a long history, with complex surface morphology and numerous natural and cultural landscapes. These landscapes are mostly concentrated in urban areas and less in suburbs. Since Hankou Town was formed by the diversion of Hanshui River in Ming Dynasty, large and small wharves have appeared in Hankou at the intersection of Hanshui River and Yangtze River. Hanzheng Street commodity distribution center was formed near these docks, and Wuhan became one of the most important trade centers and logistics centers in China at that time. People flow from east to west, and from north to south. Dock culture takes root in Wuhan and has a far-reaching influence, making Wuhan one of the most popular cities in China.
