Information Engineering University, the strategic support force of China People's Liberation Army, was rebuilt on the basis of the former China University of Information Engineering and the Foreign Languages Institute of the People's Liberation Army, and belongs to the strategic support force of China People's Liberation Army.
The school campus is located in Zhengzhou City and Luoyang City, Henan Province, and shoulders the heavy responsibility of cultivating senior professionals in the information field for national defense and military modernization.
The school is the key construction institution of the Army's 2 1 10 project, the first batch of national first-class network security college construction demonstration projects, the only national network security talent training base of the China People's Liberation Army, the national non-common language talent training base, the foreign language training base for the whole army and the Chinese training base for foreign military students.
The school was founded in 193 1 1, formerly known as the Second and Third Military Commission Engineering Schools and the Northeast Democratic Coalition Surveying and Mapping School; It was formed by merging the former China People's Liberation Army Information Engineering College, China People's Liberation Army Surveying and Mapping College, China People's Liberation Army Electronic Technology College and Chinese People's Liberation Army Foreign Languages College.
As of September 2020, the school covers an area of nearly 8,000 mu, and has established a discipline and professional system integrating science, engineering, military, literature and management. There are 8 authorized points for doctoral degrees in first-level disciplines, 18 authorized points for master's degrees in first-level disciplines and 5 authorized points for professional degrees. There are 5 national key disciplines, 15 military (provincial) key disciplines, and 2 national characteristic construction majors.
There are 1 national key laboratories, 2 national engineering laboratories, 1 national engineering technology research centers, 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 18 military (provincial) key laboratories, experimental teaching demonstration centers and engineering technology research centers.
By September 2020, the school has more than 2,000 teaching and research personnel, including doctoral supervisors 172 and master supervisors 390.
Among them, academician of China Academy of Engineering 1 person, member of National Science and Technology Awards Committee 1 person, member of the State Council Discipline Appraisal Group 1 person, member of National Informatization Expert Advisory Committee1person, 7 experts in the information field of National 863 Plan, 2 experts from the Scientific Application Committee of Lunar Exploration Project, and 3 first prize winners of National Innovation.
