Informatization of government affairs: At present, the high-tech zone has built an internal local area network of the CMC with Gigabit optical fiber as the backbone and a metropolitan area network with Netcom as the support, which covers the whole region, realizing the online transmission of official documents between the CMC organs and units. Based on LOTUS NOTES, we developed the "E-government System of High-tech Zone Management Committee" and established our own website. After continuous upgrading and improvement, the embryonic form of e-government has been formed. Through the support of these platforms, the office of the Administrative Committee has realized the "five modernizations", that is, paperless office, networked document delivery of enterprises in the region, database management of departmental business, integration of government information in the region, and openness of websites. In 2004, a "one-network" office system was built and opened to realize "online examination and approval" and "online declaration". This project was identified as "the key informatization project of Shandong Province in 2002" by the Provincial Information Industry Department.
Education Informatization: According to the spirit of the "School-to-School Communication" project implemented by the Ministry of Education and the requirements of Weihai Education MAN Construction Plan, the Implementation Plan of Information Technology Development and Education MAN Construction in Weihai High-tech Zone was formulated. At present, an education metropolitan area network covering 14 primary and secondary schools in the whole district has been initially established, and all schools in the whole district have realized media network education.
Enterprise informatization: Enterprise informatization in this area began to develop in the middle and late 1990s. The application of enterprise informatization ranges from simple data processing to the formation of management information system, and then the informatization of enterprise resource planning management (ERP) is realized. At the same time, computer technology and numerical control technology are applied to the development and production process, and computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided process planning (CAPP) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) are gradually realized. The application of computer has also developed from stand-alone application to establishing enterprise internal network system, realizing automation, connecting the Internet and establishing its own website.
Informatization in other fields: The Development Zone has opened special information networks such as finance, taxation, industry and commerce, statistics and public security, and its functions have been continuously extended, becoming an important part of the network assets of the whole region. IC card has been widely used in industry and commerce, taxation, finance, schools and other systems.
Software industry: Weihai is one of the "one park and three places" of Shandong software industry (Jinan Qilu Software Park, Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai Software Base), and the "Weihai Software Base" is located in Weihai High-tech Zone.
At present, more than 40 software enterprises have settled in Venture Building, which has reserved stamina for the development of software base. "Nongyou" Software Park was identified by the Ministry of Agriculture as the national rural information management promotion and application base, and by the Provincial Information Industry Department as the Shandong rural management software research and development promotion base. Campus management software products developed by Weihai Shifeng Computer Network Technology Co., Ltd., computer security management system software products developed by Weihai Fisherman Information Technology Co., Ltd., embedded and control software developed by Weihai Haihe Technology Co., Ltd., and large-screen LCD system developed by Weihai Wei Qi Electronics Co., Ltd. all have great development potential. Aorui Software Co., Ltd. and Klaus Digital Communication Co., Ltd. are two companies founded by doctors studying abroad in our region. The network software and panoramic remote network monitoring system developed by them have high technical content and good market development prospects.
Electronic information manufacturing industry: At present, there are more than 60 kinds of electronic information products in our region. In 2007, the total industrial output value of electronic information manufacturing industry in the whole region accounted for 52.9% of the total industrial output value above designated size, and the foreign exchange earned by export accounted for 8 1% of the total foreign exchange earned by export. More than 20 kinds of products, such as image sensor, thermal print head, bill printer, laser printer, CDMA repeater and new LED light source, have filled the gaps in China. It has formed an electronic information industry dominated by fax machines and key components, inkjet printers, laser printers, deflection coils, small transformer coils and computer software.
