The basic situation of nenghai

Nenghai (1886— 1967). Gong, a common surname, was born in Mianzhu County, Sichuan Province. From babies to young people, they were all in the authoritarian period of Empress Dowager Cixi during Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. In recent months, the politics of the Qing court has become more and more corrupt, and the national situation has become more and more critical. When the imperialist powers tried to carve up China, Nenghai had become a hot-blooded man in his twenties. At this time, he resolutely joined the army to serve the country and was admitted to the army school. After graduation, he was appointed as a battalion commander because of his excellent performance. Soon transferred to Yunnan Jiangwu Hall as an instructor, and was promoted to head. Shortly after the Revolution of 1911 led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing government and established the Republic of China, the regime fell into the hands of ambitious Yuan Shikai. Yuan Shikai attempted to claim the title of emperor and set up a general's office for his sole military power.

19 10 year, Nenghai was transferred to the general's office, with no post and no right. He was paid a monthly salary according to the standard system (also called the unified belt, which was the chief officer in charge of a goal in the late Qing Dynasty, equivalent to a regimental officer), which made him idle and bored. He amused himself by browsing Buddhist scriptures and began to get in touch with Buddhist classics. Soon, Nenghai went to Japan to inspect politics and industry, hoping to rely on industry to enrich the people.

In Japan, seeing that Buddhism is very popular, Buddhist thought has influenced all aspects of social life, so I became interested in Buddhism. With the passage of time and the influence of contact with Buddhists, I talked about Buddhism with Cheng Zhixuan, a scholar at that time (a student studying in Japan, a professor at West China University, a provost and an inspector of Sichuan Education Department) and gradually became close friends. In the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), Nenghai was thirty-nine. He became a monk with Cheng Zhixuan at Tianbao Temple in Fuling. In the same year, he was punished by an old monk at Baoguang Temple in Xindu. For more than 40 years, he has been studying and spreading Buddhism.

After the Boxer Rebellion, the Qing government became increasingly corrupt, and the imperialist powers stepped up their efforts to carve up China, arousing the blood of every patriot. Master Nenghai was full of youthful blood, abandoned business and joined the army, and was admitted to Sichuan Army crash school, where he married Liu Xiang, Liu and other students. Master Nenghai studied hard and got excellent grades. After graduation, he was sent to Kangding as a reconnaissance battalion chief. In less than a year, he was promoted to battalion commander. 1909, Master Nenghai was sent to Jiangwutang, Yunnan as the head officer. Zhu De was studying in the school at that time. After liberation, Master Nenghai met with Commander-in-Chief Zhu De in Beijing. Commander-in-Chief Zhu also cherished this teacher-student relationship and said, "I haven't come for nearly forty years. Although the teacher's face is a little old, his spirit is similar to that of his early years in Yunnan, which is gratifying. "

1966, Master Nenghai passed away at Bishan Temple in Wutai Mountain at the age of 8 1. The remnant tower was built at the foot of the tower next to Shancai Cave.
