We have always said that information management and information system are an interdisciplinary subject with strong compatibility. Computer, modern management, economics, mathematical statistics, etc. It's all covered. If graduates have certain innovative management ability combined with big data background, the employment direction they can choose is still relatively wide.
The work of information management can be roughly divided into several major directions:
Enterprise information management. A general direction of information management specialty is naturally management, especially information management of enterprises. Specifically, marketing, project management, logistics, e-commerce, management consulting and so on around the information system can be done. For example, the information service department of a large company maintains and manages the company's information system, solves the computer equipment problems of other departments, manages office automation equipment, or engages in the market development, sales and service of information system integration.
Computer direction. Another major direction for graduates majoring in information management is technology. Such as program, database, computer network, website establishment and maintenance. This part is mainly science students with practical experience in school. They can develop E RP systems in some enterprises, or they can enter professional system development companies and some companies that provide computer software information services, and engage in software development, product maintenance and information consultation.
Data processing and mining. After the application of information system, a large amount of electronic data will be accumulated, and the technology of extracting valuable information from the data is called data mining. If graduates can master relevant technologies such as data analysis and processing at school, they can also engage in research and development of big data systems, data forecasting and analysis, and information architecture development in management departments, financial institutions, enterprises and institutions. However, this kind of work generally requires high students and the threshold is relatively high.
Document and financial management. The other direction is document management. For example, go to the library technology center, data center and data center to engage in literature, information classification, literature retrieval, data query, collection and sorting. Some graduates enter accounting firms, finance, securities and consulting companies to engage in accounting and finance-related work. This is mainly determined by the different teaching arrangements and training systems of the school, and there are more liberal arts students in general.
