Support mainly refers to the act of providing parents with necessary daily necessities and expenses economically, that is, assuming certain economic responsibilities, providing necessary economic help and giving reasonable material requirements. Adult children have the obligation to support and assist their parents. Children fulfill their obligation to support their parents. Support means that children provide necessary living conditions for their parents materially and economically. Children, as caregivers, should fulfill the obligation to support the elderly economically, take care of their life and spiritual comfort, and take care of their special needs. All children have the obligation to support their parents. Children, including legitimate children, illegitimate children, adopted children and stepchildren with dependency. Parents who are unable to work or have difficulties in living have the right to ask their children to pay alimony when they fail to fulfill their alimony obligations. Refuse to perform, can be resolved through litigation. If the circumstances are vile and constitute a crime, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law.
The obligation of the supporter is embodied in several aspects:
1. It is necessary to properly arrange housing for the elderly and not force them to move to houses with poor conditions. Children or other relatives shall not occupy the houses owned or leased by the elderly, and shall not change the property rights or lease relationship without authorization. The elderly have their own houses, and the supporters have the obligation to maintain them;
2. The supporter shall not ask the elderly to undertake labor beyond their ability;
3. The supporter shall not refuse to perform the maintenance obligation by giving up the inheritance right or other reasons. If the supporter fails to perform his maintenance obligations, the elderly have the right to ask the supporter to pay alimony. The freedom of marriage of the elderly is protected by law. Children or other relatives shall not interfere with the divorce, remarriage and married life of the elderly. The supporter shall not be eliminated because of the change of the marriage of the elderly;
Children should not only support their parents, but also respect and care for their parents and help them in all aspects of family life. When they are old and sick, they should be given proper care, so that they can be comforted emotionally and spend their old age happily.
To sum up, children have the obligation to support and help their parents. Parents who are unable to work or have difficulties in life have the right to ask their children to pay alimony when their children fail to perform their alimony obligations. Adult children with financial ability, whether male or female, married or unmarried, should try their best to fulfill this obligation when their parents need support until their parents die. Children's obligation to support their parents occurs not only between children born in wedlock and their parents, but also between children born out of wedlock and their parents, between adopted children and adoptive parents, and between stepchildren and stepparents who have fulfilled their obligation to support education.
