Displacement and automobile
The volume of space through which the piston moves from top dead center to bottom dead center is called cylinder displacement; If the engine has several cylinders, the sum of the working volumes of all cylinders is called the engine displacement. Generally expressed in liters (l). The engine displacement is one of the most important structural parameters, which can represent the size of the engine better than the cylinder diameter and the number of cylinders. Many indexes of the engine are closely related to the displacement.
Usually, the exhaust volume is large, and the energy released by the engine per unit time (that is, the chemical energy of fuel is converted into mechanical energy) is large, that is, the "power" is good, just like a teenager compared with a healthy adult. Of course, adults are more efficient in doing physical work. So those off-road vehicles and sports cars usually have large displacement.
Most domestic cars have a car model consisting of pinyin letters and Arabic numerals at the rear, including the following three parts: the first part consists of two or three pinyin letters, which is the code to identify the company name. For example, CA behind the red flag car stands for FAW, and QC of Fule car stands for Qinchuan.
The middle two digits are the engine displacement of this model car. For example, "08" means that the engine displacement is 0.8 liters, "20" means 2.0 liters, and "16" means 1.6 liters. There is also a number after the number indicating the displacement, indicating the product serial number defined by the enterprise. For example, Changan Suzuki's "Antelope 1300" car has a displacement of 1300CC, which is 1.3 liter.
Another example is the Palio sedan produced by Nanjing Fiat. The words "1.3" and "1.6" can be seen on the side of the car body. This is their engine displacement in liters. The displacement of FAW-Volkswagen Audi series cars is written in the rear. For example, "1.8T" means that the displacement is 1.8L with turbocharger, and "2.4" means that the displacement is 2.4l. ..
