Zhou Guangren was born in Hanover. She loved music since she was a child. She followed eight famous artists at home and abroad, including Ding Shande, and studied with others. Before liberation, Zhou Guangren was an outstanding pianist of the younger generation in China, who was active on the Shanghai music stage. After the founding of New China, Zhou Guangren, as a young pianist, made an international exchange visit with a delegation of artists from China, and won the third prize in the piano competition of the World Youth Students' Peace and Friendship Festival held in Berlin. This is the first time that China has won an international competition, which is of great significance to China. Zhou Guangren is undoubtedly the first person to win an international prize in the field of piano in China.
In 1980s, Zhou Guangren, as the first piano player in China, visited the United States for academic exchange at the invitation of the edgar snow Foundation. As the first person to go abroad in the piano field after the reform and opening up, Zhou Guangren not only won a reputation in the international piano field, but also let the world know and recognize China's piano. Zhou Guangren, who returned from the United States with great fame, devoted himself to the piano career in China.

After the Cultural Revolution in the last century, Zhou Guangren gave lectures in Sichuan for half a year in the spirit of "doing something for Sichuan", and trained a large number of excellent piano teachers such as Yang Hanguo and Dan Zhaoyi for Sichuan. From 65438 to 0983, Zhou Guangren founded Xinghai Youth Piano School, the first amateur piano school in China, and hired famous teachers to cultivate a large number of outstanding young talents for piano excavation in China, which made great contributions to popularizing piano education in China.
1985, Zhou Guangren launched the "Xinghai Cup" children's piano competition to help piano children with dreams take off.
1994 the first China international piano competition was successfully held in Beijing. Zhou Guangren, as the founder, took the lead in the preparation of the competition, overcame all difficulties, and finally forged an international competition with a strong jury, fair and just scoring principles and high artistic level authority, which laid a solid foundation for China piano to truly go global.
