Stone maintenance usually refers to a series of operations such as stone cleaning, protection, renovation, disease treatment and daily maintenance.
Misunderstandings in stone material maintenance
1. Stones don't need protection. It is generally believed that stone is a hard building decoration material, and it should be less protected than other materials (such as wood) in use. On the contrary, natural stones are alive and need breathing and maintenance. Otherwise, it will not bring you the desired decorative effect, but there will be symptoms such as water spots, blackening, yellowing and alkalization.
2. After installation, only one protective agent is used for protection or only surface protection. In fact, this is not the case. According to different stones and different environments, protective agents with different functions are selected. Protective agents are not only used for surface protection after installation, but also for six-sided protection before installation and use.
3. The maintenance of smooth stone can be waxed. This is not right. Waxing, as a maintenance method of stone, was the first maintenance method of stone in 1970s. At present, the most advanced, extensive and effective maintenance method is the crystal plane system maintenance method, which has developed to the third generation. Wax is usually an acid-base substance. Regular use will affect the luminosity of smooth stones, block the pores of stones, and make stones yellow and dirty. In stone conservation industry, waxing is considered as a kind of pollution to natural stone.
As long as the stone is protected, it will be done once and for all. That was not the case. Protection also has a time limit. Stone is usually protected regularly, and the protection period is related to the protected object, environment and protective agent.
