During the Warring States Period, Wei established its capital here, hence the name "Girder". The iron smelting industry is developed and very prosperous. Natural and man-made disasters after the Yellow River flood have almost become ruins and extremely declined. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the country was divided, and the geographical conditions of Kaifeng were very suitable for the development of agricultural economy. As the basis of unifying the whole country, Bianjing became the capital of Hou Liang, Houjin, Houhan and Houzhou.
Bai Juyi described Kaifeng in the poem Sui Liu Di: "At the end of the great cause, the willow color was like smoke and snow." When Emperor Qianlong toured Kaifeng to admire chrysanthemums, he also left a beautiful sentence of "the wind leaves are green and the frost flowers are a hundred chrysanthemums".
