Brief introduction of Daosheng
Daosheng (355-434) was a monk in Jin and Song Dynasties. The common surname is Wei and Pengcheng (now Xuzhou, Jiangsu) is 1. When he was young, he became a monk with Zhu Fatai and changed his surname to Zhu. At the age of fifteen, he began to give lectures. At the age of twenty, he was given the highest precept of monks, that is, "having sufficient precepts." In 397 AD, he studied in Hui Yuan, Lushan Mountain, and in 404 AD, he studied in Kumarajiva and Buddhabhadra. Known for his wisdom, he turned the Taoist concept of Tao and things into a discussion of Buddha's nature, holding that all beings have Buddha's nature and advocating epiphany; Starting from Zhuangzi's thoughts of "equal success or failure" and "right and wrong", he advocates the theory that "good deeds are not reported".
