How to better "swim" the squid industry?

As a healthy and delicious seafood, squid has been loved by more and more consumers in recent years. However, behind this delicious food, what challenges does the squid industry face? Recently, the "First China Squid Industry Conference" was held in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, the "First Squid Fishing City in China". At the squid conference co-sponsored by the Fisheries Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, China Ocean Fisheries Association and Zhejiang Ocean and Fisheries Bureau, domestic first-class squid experts and representatives of squid fishing, processing and trading enterprises conducted in-depth discussions on the opportunities and challenges of squid industry. Squid fishing in China offshore began in the 1990s. "At that time, the offshore fishery resources declined, and hundreds of domestic trawlers lost money, so there was no way to change production." Lv Liangfeng, the first crew member of offshore fishing in China and now the vice president of China Offshore Fisheries Association, still remembers the beginning of squid fishing. In this context, Zhoushan Ocean Fishing Company has taken the first step of ocean squid fishing. From 1990 to now, the number of squid fishing boats in the offshore has increased from 2 to 4 1 1, and the fishing grounds have expanded to major fishing grounds in the world. The offshore fishing has been maintained at about 400,000 tons per year, accounting for 40% of the total offshore fishing output in China. It is the most promising offshore fishery in China, which effectively guarantees the operating income of offshore fishermen. However, the squid industry with promising development prospects is facing realistic challenges. Squid is an important export variety of fishing aquatic products in China, which is mainly sold to EU, Japan, USA, ASEAN and other countries and regions. In recent years, exports have remained basically stable, but the acceptance of squid in the domestic market is generally not as good as that in the international market. Li Shuyuan, executive director of China Nutrition Society, said that squid, as a deep-sea fish species, is rich in nutrition, high in protein and low in fat, and rich in taurine. At the same time, the squid production fishing ground is far from the land, which is less affected by industrial activities, pollution-free and has great consumption potential. "Japan's per capita annual consumption of squid 1 kg. At first, domestic consumption of squid was mainly in the southeast coast. If the per capita consumption is increased to half that of Japan, it will be a huge market. " Zhang Xiaoli, Deputy Secretary-General of China Ocean Fisheries Association, put forward his own views. "Expanding the consumer market needs to improve the processing level of squid." Dai Zhiyuan, a professor at Zhejiang Gongshang University who has been engaged in marine cephalopods research for a long time, believes that squid is one of the three potential marine biological resources in the world. In recent years, offshore squid fishing has developed rapidly, and squid has also become the main raw material for aquatic products processing in China. Squid is a treasure with high processing utilization rate. However, at present, domestic squid processing is basically in the form of squid carcass, body and squid slices. The processing technology is relatively backward, the variety is single, it is not attractive to consumers and the added value of raw materials is not high. Take the head, viscera and skin of squid as an example. Except a small part used as feed, other processing wastes are buried, which wastes a lot of resources in protein. In the production and trade links, it is also facing the test of expanding catch and increasing market fluctuation risk. Squid is an annual cephalopod seafood with short life cycle and relatively rich resources. It is a waste to catch too little. At present, the squid market is still dominated by traditional trade methods. Chen Jianhua, general manager of Zhoushan Huiqun Ocean Development Co., Ltd., said that fishery enterprises don't know enough about market demand information. Often, when the market supply and demand are too large, ocean-going squid fishing boats continue to exert their strength, resulting in a continuous decline in prices. However, after fishing enterprises stopped production, market prices began to rise again, processing enterprises hoarded raw materials, and market demand was artificially amplified. "The three price fluctuations encountered by ocean squid fishing in 1997, 2004, 20 1 1 year are generally caused by this." Chen Jianhua said. In fact, the squid processing in China has only developed on a large scale in recent years, which has promoted the rapid development of the offshore squid fishing industry. Due to the sharp increase of ocean-going fishing boats and the shortage of crew, crew can only be recruited from the mainland without sailing experience and training, which leads to an increase in production costs, an increase in output and a decline in product quality. Therefore, how to make the squid industry better "swim" has become a realistic topic before us. Huang Baoshan, secretary general of China Ocean Fishery Association, believes that it is necessary to start from several aspects at present. Macroscopically, it is necessary to improve the market operation mechanism, improve the market capacity adjustment ability and competition elimination ability; Microscopically, enterprises should enhance market quality awareness and strengthen technical input. Ocean fishing needs a lot of investment, and the important aspect of this investment lies in technical input. For example, in the past, the freezing capacity of domestic ocean-going squid fishing boats was mostly only seven or eight tons, and the freezing quality could not be guaranteed if the catch was slightly larger.
