Which city is more expensive, Shanghai or Nanjing? After personal experience, I come to the conclusion that Nanjing is more expensive than Shanghai.

This is the institute of travel and history of traveler Lao Zhang.

Shanghai, an international metropolis nicknamed "Magic Capital", is a municipality directly under the Central Government and a super-first-tier city in China. If you rank alone, Shanghai is undoubtedly at least in the top two, which we often say is "North to Guangzhou and Shenzhen"! Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province and the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, sometimes failed to be the "eldest brother" in the province (economically speaking) and was often surpassed by "younger brother" cities such as Wuxi and Suzhou. But it has entered the ranks of "new first-tier cities". After all, there is still some inside information.

Generally speaking, there is still a certain gap between the economic strength of Nanjing and Shanghai. Of course, Nanjing has less influence than Shanghai, and the geographical distance between the two cities is only 300 kilometers. So, what is the consumption level? When I haven't been to Nanjing and Shanghai, I heard that the consumption in Shanghai is insanely high, but after I went there, I found that the consumption in Nanjing is higher than that in Shanghai (except the house price).

I like traveling. I go to many different cities every year. I look at the consumption level of a city as a tourist. For foreign tourists, the main consumption items in a city are food and shelter. I usually choose ordinary business hotels, and I like to taste local specialty snacks. After horizontal comparison at the same level, my personal experience is that Shanghai is cheaper than Nanjing.

Of course, I didn't go to the high-end restaurants and luxury hotels on the Bund in Shanghai and the Zifeng Building in Nanjing, and I couldn't afford it. It is said that it is very expensive. I went to Shanghai on New Year's Day holiday this year and stayed in a hotel in Jing 'an District of Shanghai, which belongs to the downtown area. The room price is less than that of 200 yuan. I went to Nanjing twice, once on business with my colleagues, not on holiday, and once on New Year's Day holiday, I went to Shanghai and stayed in Nanjing for one night. Hotel prices are all around 300 yuan. By horizontal comparison, hotels in the same location and grade are nearly 100 yuan higher than those in Shanghai.

In terms of food, such as duck blood vermicelli soup, a representative snack in Nanjing, we have eaten it in a century-old shop, and a bowl of duck blood vermicelli soup costs more than 40 yuan. I feel a little extravagant, delicious, moderate and not amazing. Breakfast, beef fried dumpling and vermicelli soup in Nanjing cost more than 20 yuan for any meal. Maybe I ate too much.

Let's take a look at Shanghai again. The famous scallion cake 5 yuan, beef noodle bowl 12 yuan (full weight), jiaozi is a little more expensive. I also ate other similar snacks in two cities. Generally speaking, Shanghai is cheaper than Nanjing. These are my personal experiences and feelings. The consumption level of a city still needs to be experienced by itself. I once heard a friend say that it costs 50 to 60 yuan to have a casual breakfast in Shanghai, which scared me almost to come. In fact, the consumption in Shanghai is really not high, if you don't buy a house.

Both Nanjing and Shanghai have a strong history, and the Republic of China is very strong. They also preserved a large number of century-old buildings. The French phoenix tree on the city road is very beautiful. I will go and have a closer look in the future. However, hotels in Nanjing are really expensive. What do you think of the consumption in Shanghai and Nanjing? Welcome to leave a message for discussion.
