Yao Jianping Embroidery Art Museum is located in Mudu Town, a thousand-year-old town, covering an area of six acres. It is a garden-style building with oriental characteristics and a combination of Chinese and western styles. The art museum integrates design, production, research and exhibition, including Suzhou embroidery exhibition hall, embroidery studio, reception hall and art training base. It not only provides an elegant cultural atmosphere and solid facilities for the growth of Yao Jianping art, but also makes Suzhou embroidery a wonderful flower in the new era.
It is said that there is another touching story about the location of the art museum. Originally, the ancient town of Mudu was the hometown of Shen Shou, the "queen" of embroidery in the late Qing Dynasty. Over the years, there have been contemporary masters of Suzhou embroidery, such as Gu and Li Eying. In order to vigorously promote the art of Suzhou embroidery, Mudu Town invested heavily in rebuilding Shen Shou's former residence. Now, another 3 million yuan has been invested to build the Yao Jianping Embroidery Memorial Hall, the third-generation Suzhou Embroidery Rookie, on the east side of Shen Shou's former residence.
