The Relationship between Kunshan and Suzhou

Before 1989, Kunshan was a county under the jurisdiction of Suzhou. Later, Kunshan was removed from the county to build a city, which means Suzhou is a county-level city under its jurisdiction. Kunshan became a municipality directly under the Central Government of Jiangsu Province on 20 18 last year, which means that it no longer belongs to Suzhou administratively.
