Yishui County is located in the south-central part of Shandong Province, at the southern foot of Yishan and in the north of Linyi City. Geology of Yishui county
Yishui County has complex geological structure and complete and ancient strata, mainly including Archaean, Proterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic Tertiary and Quaternary. The oldest stratum (also the oldest stratum in Shandong Province) is called Yishui Rock Group, which was formed in Middle Archean and belongs to Archean stratum.
The rock formation is developed in Yishu fault zone in the middle of Hongdanshan uplift, with island-like, lenticular and banded inclusions, remaining in the intrusive rocks of metamorphic granites in Middle Archean, NeoArchean and Paleoproterozoic. The total exposed area is about 50 square kilometers. From bottom to top, it is divided into Shishan Guanzhuangyan Formation and Linjia Guanzhuangyan Formation, with a total thickness of 1729 m and a geological age of about 3 billion years.
