Indonesian (English) major (four-year undergraduate)

This major aims to cultivate Indonesian senior professionals with solid knowledge of Indonesian language and extensive knowledge of science and culture, who can engage in translation, research, teaching and management in foreign affairs, economy and trade, culture, press and publication, education, scientific research and tourism. Graduates of this major must master the basic knowledge of linguistics, literature and related humanities, science and technology, understand the relevant principles, policies and laws of our country, have a solid Indonesian language foundation, be proficient in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, understand Indonesian society and culture, have good Indonesian communication skills, Chinese-Indian translation skills, and have preliminary scientific research and practical work abilities. The principle of this major is to pay equal attention to Indonesian and English, and graduates must reach the level of CET-4.

Compulsory courses for Indonesian majors include: basic Indonesian, advanced Indonesian, Indonesian extensive reading, spoken Indonesian, Indonesian audio-visual speaking, Indonesian grammar, Indonesian interpretation, Indonesian newspaper reading, Indonesian writing, Indonesian translation theory and practice, basic English, English audio-visual speaking and so on.

Specialized elective courses offered include: Indonesia's general situation, Indonesia's history, Indonesia's economic and trade anthology, contemporary Indonesia's political diplomacy, Indonesia's literary history, Indonesia's selected reading of literary works, Indonesia's culture, etc.
