Hangzhou is the seven ancient capitals of China and the first batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China. The excavation of the site of the bridge across the lake in Xiaoshan District confirmed that people lived here as early as 8,000 years ago, and the Liangzhu culture in Yuhang 5,000 years ago was hailed as "the dawn of civilization". It has a history of more than 2200 years since the county was established in Qin. Wu Yueguo in the Five Dynasties and the Southern Song Dynasty both built their capitals here, enjoying the reputation of "paradise on earth" since ancient times. In Yuan Dynasty, it was praised as "the most beautiful and luxurious city in the world" by Italian traveler Kyle Poirot.
Hangzhou is the life-long host city of World Leisure Expo, China International Cartoon & Animation Festival and China International Microfilm Exhibition, and one of the major exhibition cities in China, where the 20 16 China Universiade will be held. Today, Hangzhou is striding forward from the "West Lake era" to the "Qiantang River era" with the overall development goal of "expanding the city eastward, traveling westward, along the river and crossing the river".
