Investigation record of Nantong bridge

This is Joey's:

It is said that Joey was built in memory of educator Gu Yisheng.

Along Nanhao River, you can see a new five-hole stone bridge passing through the museum eastward. Stop on the bridge, but see the open water of Haohe River. There are 44 little stone lions with different expressions on the stone fences on both sides of the bridge. At the eastern end of the bridge, there is a stone tablet named "Joy", which records the beginning and end of the construction of the bridge. It reads: "1952, Nantong Normal School built a pavilion bridge on the riverbank from the school to the museum in recognition of the teaching of the educator Mr. Gu Yisheng." Bridges and pavilions were destroyed in the 1960s. 1in the summer of 1998, in order to facilitate traffic, Nantong Municipal People's Government decided to widen and extend Haonan Road eastward, and invested 4.68 million yuan to build a new five-hole arch bridge with a length of 60 meters and a width of 16 meters in the former site of Yiting, named "Joey". It can be seen that this magnificent Yi Bridge was built on the site of Yi Pavilion and Yi Pavilion Bridge.

Yiting, Joy and Yiyuan Garden were all built to commemorate Gu Yisheng, an educator. Gu Yisheng (188 1- 1955) was a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. 1902, Zhang Jian founded the private Tongzhou Normal School. He is a freshman in normal university. Because of his excellent academic performance, he was appreciated by the principal Zhang Jian, so he stayed in school to teach psychology, ethics and other courses, and learned Japanese. He was compiled by 19 1 year. Later, he served as the director of education and worked in education for nearly 40 years until 1945 War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression won. He is good at poetry and ancient prose, and is one of the "four gifted scholars in Tongzhou". He published many poems in the literary supplement. Among them, at the beginning of Qixiu Bridge says:

It's still a few nights. Someone has been there.

Lin Jing birds can sing before fish wake up.

Light fog bathes the first wind, and the breeze combs the green waves.

There is beauty in it, and appreciation is better.

-from Chating? Qiaoqiao? Qiayuan

Another way of saying this is that Zhang Jian used Joey's name.

At that time, Zhang Jian built an earth embankment behind his roommate's school building to connect with the museum, which was convenient for his roommate's students to visit and study. In order to connect the rivers in the north and south cities, a gap was left in the middle of the earth embankment, and a wooden bridge about two feet long and more than one foot wide was built here. On the day when the bridge was closed, Zhang Jian came to the bridge to observe the surrounding scenery. He was relaxed and happy, so he told the steward and carpenter that this bridge was called Easy Bridge! It means carefree.

There is another saying:

Zhang Jian studied hard in the first half of his life, then worked hard for local construction, and finally succeeded in his career. However, the fly in the ointment is that his wife has never been pregnant, and Zhang Jian is quite dissatisfied with this. This is also human nature. Later, he finally had a son and was very happy. He named his son "Yizu", which means that his ancestors were also happy. On one occasion, Zhang Jian took a group of teachers and students to the museum after visiting the teachers and students. After crossing the small wooden bridge on the earth embankment, a teacher said, Sir, let's give the bridge a name. Zhang Jian looked at a group of children and said with a smile, a rising star is relaxed and happy. The bridge in the south is called Xiuqiao, so this bridge is called Joey. In fact, Zhang Jian was happy to have a son, and also happy for the lovely students in this class, so he took "Yi" as the bridge name.

-Zhang Ziqiang, The Origin of Joey's Name.

Cross Park Bridge and enter Donghao River. There is a garden in front of it, named after Yi, which was built in memory of the educator Gu Yisheng. There are five holes in the "Joey" in the east of the garden, a lotus pond in the west of the garden, and a "Yiting" by the river in the garden, which is semi-floating. Weeping willows are like dust, covering the eaves; The red light is like the shadow of the moon, half shining on its window. The shadows of the trees linger, whispering and the scenery is pleasant.
