Because of the benefits of attending Vipassana meditation in India for the first time on 20/0/8, I attended Vipassana 10-day meditation course in Chenzhou Guidong Buddhist College again in July.
Arrive at the center before 5: 00 p.m. the day before the course starts, collect your necessary daily necessities and hand in your mobile phone (the most challenging part of the whole process, haha).
In the first three days of the course, you can train your attention by observing natural breathing, so as to cultivate your awareness of body feelings. From the fourth day, I began to learn Vipassana. Through the mental concentration and keen perception of the body cultivated by breathing, I can see the feelings of the whole body surface (smooth pulse or heavy pain, etc.). ), and keep my mind aware of impermanence to faithfully observe the changing feelings of the body in the process of birth and death. When we observe that some parts of the body have a steady pulse and experience a more comfortable feeling, we will remain aware of these realities, which are "melting and rising in the process of rising and disappearing", we will not be happy, and we will be persistent and greedy for this feeling; When we observe that some parts of the body have a tough and heavy feeling, we should keep aware of these "all rising and disappearing" realities, so as to develop our "isocentricity". In the process of rising and disappearing (melting) again and again, I feel that everything is impermanent, bitter and non-self-cosmic, so as to get rid of the three sources of my unhappiness: greed, hatred and ignorance.
The following are all the benefits, feelings and insights I got from this course:
1. Is there any way to get rid of greed? When we are faced with something that can make us happy, we will have an infinite pursuit of this kind of happiness and form the habit of infinite love in our hearts. On the other hand, our own addiction to "Tik Tok, games, gambling and drug abuse" is not the case. Even if all kinds of habits have great negative effects and consequences on our lives, you still maintain infinite obsession and persistence. When you can observe the whole process of physical reaction truthfully and understand that everything is changeable, it may make our minds give up their persistence and persistence in the pleasure of certain things.
2. What is the solution to get rid of hatred? When we encounter something that makes us unhappy, we will feel disgusted and angry inside, and we will have the habit of infinite hatred. When we practice Vipassana, when disgust, anger, anger or other bad feelings arise in our hearts, we begin to observe our breathing (we can take a deep breath when angry) and our body truthfully, and realize our current feelings. Keep an awareness of impermanence, everything is impermanent. Maybe we won't be so angry, disgusted or even angry about something. With the extension of practice time, you will find that your mind becomes more peaceful and calmer.
In the previous practice, I can clearly understand the feelings of greed and hatred, but I don't need a good understanding of stupidity. The teacher's doubts enlightened me.
Teacher: "Ignorance is ignorance, and ignorance has no wisdom." Me: "It means silly, haha". Teacher: "No, the list says' Love is bitterness' but I don't know whether it is bitterness or ignorance. Like a dark cloud covering the sun, you can't see the light and the truth. Then we can develop our wisdom and get rid of our stupidity by practicing Vipassana. " Happiness comes from wisdom and nourishes it at the same time.
There are three hours of meditation practice every morning and evening. From the fourth day of the course, you must sit for an hour without changing your sitting posture, which can cultivate your concentration. At first, the possible limit was 30 minutes, and gradually developed to 40 minutes, 50 minutes and an hour. The teacher taught us that every time we reach the limit of physical pain, we might as well observe it for a few more minutes to see what is inside. However, in these few minutes, when constantly challenging this physical limit, we will develop your inner concentration and our mind will be greatly helped.
5. Keep absolutely quiet from the night before class to the morning of the tenth day 10. Can't talk to anyone, can't communicate (language, physical contact, eyes), and can't even talk to himself. We have been living in a group since birth, and we are constantly in contact with the outside world (information exchange and exchange), which are basically extroverted exchanges, and there is rarely an environment of completely inward communication for a long time. Such a day doesn't need any socializing, which is simply not better for our social fears. Wow, the whole world is quiet. It's good to have a chance to have a real conversation with your inner self! Dear, if you have time, talk to your heart more. It will truly reflect your true feelings and you will know yourself better.
6. The course requires no meat, and the old students even ask not to eat after noon. 1 1 Only one glass of lemonade will be served at night after lunch. I was really hungry the other day. I really wanted to barbecue crayfish two days ago ~ fortunately, I persisted, and I was still hungry behind my body, but I began to feel more and more clear, and the whole person felt more comfortable after sweeping away the heavy feeling before. Actually, I didn't think I could do it at first, but the teacher told me that we didn't have a good breakfast at first. Did we get off to a good start in one day? Don't say "no, I can't". Put this down first, and come back to me after three days of trying. As a result, I persisted well (self-praise, haha). In fact, when we start to do something, we will be nervous and anxious because of the fear of the unknown. In addition, many of our thinking modes are very limited. Before we start practicing, we reject ourselves and tell ourselves that we can't do it. Sometimes we might as well adjust our thinking mode, and maybe we can get a good profit in an easy attempt. In fact, what our bodies need is not much, but more to satisfy some physical and mental desires. We are not satisfied with the external materials. We constantly satisfy our constant desires, the desire is getting bigger and bigger, and the satisfaction is getting weaker and weaker. Just "temporary satisfaction can come from material and desire, but real happiness must come from spirit."
7. When you meditate and watch your breath, because your heart is not focused enough, you will keep thinking about the past and the future. Images of the past keep pouring into my mind, and my imagination of the future is infinitely broad. At this time, I have to understand that the past has passed, will not change, and the future has not yet happened. Now is the reality of everything, I should go back to observing and breathing. The next afternoon, some past events and pictures rushed into my mind, and tears poured out unconsciously. My heart is still trying to stare at the breath and let the tears flow. When crying, I feel that I am in a state of being twisted and pulled, but after the tears are left, I feel that the whole person has relaxed a lot. In the past, as long as I recalled these things, I would feel great anger and dissatisfaction, but now the whole thing has been completely put down. The teacher's answer is that some stains and impurities hidden in our hearts will surface when we watch the class, so it will be very good to solve them. Just give up the idea of this matter, keep an equal heart and return to the observation of breathing. I used to feel that I was angry and unhappy, so I just needed to divert my attention. In fact, I didn't feel uncomfortable, but I was buried in a deeper subconscious mind. I keep accumulating this negative energy and burying it in my heart. When I wake up again, it will only explode in a more explosive way, which will do more damage and harm to myself and the surrounding area. After practicing Vipassana, when you feel resentful and disgusted in your heart, you might as well take a deep breath and observe your physical feelings truthfully at this time, which will better calm your mind and be more beneficial to your body and mind. At this time, you will find it more difficult to get angry, or the time to get angry will be shortened. This feeling and change is great in itself. To truly observe our own inner reality. Go to the place where the storm came. Every grain of sand is the best baptism. May our hearts be really soft and tough.
8. The practice of Vipassana Center is a completely adopted monk-walking mode. All the teaching, equipment and accommodation are provided by others, and the service and operation of the center are completed by volunteers. In such a utilitarian environment, you can have such a pure little corner endowed by law, feel the unrequited love between people, and live in a small corner where you just want to dedicate yourself and practice yourself, but you will get more spiritual satisfaction, and satisfaction can often lead to happiness.
At the opening ceremony in the evening, the teacher shared a very interesting story with us. As a Hindu, an old woman was dissatisfied with the conflict between her son and daughter-in-law in practicing Vipassana and Hindu teachings and rituals, so she angrily went to the Buddha's theory. I curse when I see Buddha, but Buddha is not angry. He said: old man, you come to see me and give me anger and abuse as gifts. I don't accept it. You should take it back as it is. Many times we might as well use this method to deal with the slander, abuse and anger of others, which is very interesting.
10. After practicing Vipassana, you will gradually understand that what you love most is yourself. Whether it is a partner or a child, you will give love and attach your expectations and wishes to each other. If you can better establish yourself and respect each other as individuals, the emotional connection and flow between you will be better and the relationship will not be tense. Giving up more obsession with "mine" and handling the relationship with people and things with a normal heart will make your harvest more calm and peaceful.
At the end of the course, I returned to this world, but I will still maintain my pursuit of material things and my love for life. But if I can get along better with myself and the surrounding environment, my mind can be freed from some pains and impurities in the past, and it will be easier to get close to and brighter. Of course, I don't mean to realize that the truth of life is that I lost my passion for it after all the silence, but I know that life is futile and I want to be in full bloom.
May we all have a satisfactory material life and a rich spiritual world. After all, because I like simplicity, I like gorgeousness.
May we all get real peace, real harmony and real happiness in our lives. Best wishes to everyone!
