Four days in the Buddhist world

As the following story will be set in Wutai Mountain, it is necessary for you to know the relevant information. Wutai Mountain is located in Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, and ranks first among the four famous Buddhist mountains in China with Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang, Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui, Emei Mountain in Sichuan and * * *. It is also known as the five Buddhist holy places in the world, together with Lumbini Garden in Nepal, Rokuyaun, Bodhgaya and Naga in India. The first person to promote Buddhism in Wutai Mountain was Master Ming (the third generation living Buddha) Sang Wang Auden, who personally went to Wutai Mountain to spread Buddhism in 7 10 BC. Here is a popular science: Confucius was born in 55 BC1year, Jesus was born in AD, and Master Guangming came to Wutai Mountain to preach in the late Zhou Dynasty, on the eve of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. There are still more than a hundred years before Confucius was born! Jesus was born 709 years after Master Guangming came to Wutai Mountain to preach. "The Record of Famous Mountains" records: "Wutai Mountain stands with five peaks, which are higher than Yun Biao. There are no trees on the top of the mountain, which seems to be a platform of earth, so it is called Wutai." Surrounded by five peaks, it is majestic and continuous, and there is a temple gathering and passing through the building, just like a fairyland in the upper bound. This is Huaizhen, a mountain bead terrace. It is said to be a small town with few residents. The owners here are mostly the Han nationality Buddhism monks in dark brown and smoky gray robes and Tibetan Buddhist lamas in crimson robes. Isn't it the magic of Wutai Mountain that two sects with the same belief and different ways of practicing can live in harmony? Of course, it is mainly related to the fact that Indian monks came here from Wan Li not far from ancient times to preach Dharma.

"Amitabha! Hello, Teacher Y and lay people! I have contacted the living room of Pushou Temple and reserved two beds for you. Have a good rest when you arrive. We will contact you in time tomorrow. I wish all the best! Sweet dreams! According to the sky, it is ten. " (Empty Master's message)

Master Zhaokong is a classmate's cousin. She has been a monk in Wutai Mountain for many years and has been practicing in Pushou Temple, the largest women's Dojo in Taihuai Town. She is a monk. After the introduction of our classmates, we contacted Master Zhao Kong who was traveling in Guangdong. She arranged accommodation for our trip to Wutai Mountain-"hanging the bill" at Pushou Temple. I wonder if we laymen can use the expression "pending orders"? Pushou Temple is not only a women's temple, but also a women's Buddhist college. So there are no scenes of cigarettes, believers and monks here. Quiet, orderly and solemn are our first impressions after we arrived here.

The first day of Buddhism

Stepping on the land of Taihuai Town and breathing the breath of Wutai Mountain can be summarized in two words: cool. Wutai Mountain was originally named Liang Qing! Looking around, large and small temples are dotted around and have entered the realm of Buddhism. The scenic tour bus unloaded me and my companions in front of Pushou Temple and continued to drive to the top of the mountain. Go in through the main entrance and enter the guest room directly under the guidance of the doorman. The master of the deacon is amiable and has a warm and pleasant voice. In the belly of Taihang Mountain in the north, it is like the soft language of Wunong in the south of the Yangtze River. Listening to them is like drinking a bottle of clear water-this is the real feeling at that moment. After registering our ID cards, a monk led us to the protective court. Before he left, he told us: At 2: 30 in the afternoon, Mengcan Presbyterian Church, who had just returned from France, met a layman who was hanging a bill in the temple. Those who want to listen to the master's teachings can gather in the guest room. When everyone is here, line up. I don't know anything, but my companion is a layman and has a conversion certificate. She urged me to pack my bags quickly so that I could see the old mage. "You know, this kind of opportunity comes once in a blue moon. We met it today, which shows that we have a close relationship with Buddha." The companion whispered devoutly and acted very excited and excited.

The old monk is 98 years old and his pronunciation is a little unclear. His secretary, a young monk with glasses and a gentle appearance, translated for him from time to time and attached it to his ear to convey everyone's problems to him. I only observed the appearance of the mage and didn't listen to what he said. Elder Meng Can, dressed in a brown cassock, sat with bright eyes and bowed down to accept everyone's bow. He waved his arm in a friendly way to make everyone stand up. I didn't salute, not impolite. In fact, the solemn atmosphere around me made me respect the monk. But he is not an idol, at least not in my heart, and there is no piety and worship in my heart. Among the visitors are monks from Guangdong, nuns from Penglai, Shandong, believers from Yiwu, Zhejiang, a group of pilgrims from Beijing, and two "foreign girls" (not coming to China to become monks, right? )。 When my eyes are idle, my elders' words are soothing but straightforward: we become monks and practice only to be immune; You laymen are already doing your duty for your family and society. your's practice is for everyone-everyone should practice the Buddhism of "love" and let the warmth spread in the lives of all beings. The old monk didn't preach Buddhist scriptures or the empty theory of reincarnation of good and evil, which made people appreciate and admire.

In the afternoon, I left the temple and visited several places. When I returned to the temple in the evening, a lay man came to ask me if I would like to take an evening class. Sure, we'd love to see it. At seven o'clock, everyone waited in line at the gate of the Buddhist temple. The monks filed in, about 500 or 600 people, and then we went in and stood at the end of the line. The hall is very big, and everyone has a yellow satin futon at their feet for bowing. Singing and saluting; Sing the scriptures again, and then salute. At 9: 30, after the evening self-study, line up to go back to the dormitory. Send a text message to Master Zhao Kong to report peace, thank you. According to Master Kong's reply:

"Teacher Y, I'm glad to hear from you. Our dream elders are role models for you, me and everyone. I am ashamed of my poor practice, but I am willing to work hard to be a bhikshuni in your mind in the future and be a person that all beings like! Haha, you entered Baoshan and returned with a full load. I congratulate you! You and I have a chance to meet. Take care, Amitabha! " (Empty Master's message)

A day's rush, a tiring journey, a hasty sleep, a dreamless night.

The second day of Buddhism

In sleepiness, a clear voice wakes us up. Someone shouted "hit the board!" "hit the board!" "Get up for morning class!" Look at the mobile phone, it's only 3: 30, so early! After rolling and crawling, I followed the crowd in a daze and lined up in the Buddhist temple. All the procedures are similar to the evening class, and the morning class ends at six o'clock. Then breakfast, the whole breakfast process is like a pantomime, except for the chanting before and after meals, the restaurant of hundreds of people is silent. The monks sat up straight, looked at each other, chewed silently, and we chewed with them. Eight-treasure porridge, carrot fried beans and steamed stuffed buns are all delicious. I like them.

Climb to the top of Daluo Mountain in the morning and visit Daluo Temple. Then go to Bodhisattva Peak and visit Tibetan temples. Companions burn incense and worship Buddha all the way, and they are extremely pious. I stopped or walked with pilgrims, neither worshiping Buddha nor burning incense, for the simple reason that I am not a believer. I know little about Buddhism, Buddhist scriptures and legends, not to mention poor fur; The purpose of Buddhism is a little familiar: it is about reincarnation, about Xiu De doing good deeds, about piety, and then creating miracles. In this respect, I should be regarded as a nihilist, and it doesn't matter to me whether the Buddha exists or not; I never think about reincarnation. This life is enough for me. How can we think about the afterlife? How's it going? So what if there is nothing? Ha ha. As for accumulating virtue and doing good, I believe what our ancestors said: at the beginning of life, human nature is good. I am kind, so I don't need to ask for it. There is no sin in your heart. Why do you bow to the statue to atone for it? So, swimming among pilgrims, I am very calm. However, there was an episode: when I left the gate of Rhodes Temple, there was a flat stone road under my feet. I happened to wear a pair of flat sandals, and when I stepped on them, I fell heavily and my knees turned blue. After reading it, the companion said seriously: Look, this is the retribution for your disrespect for the Buddha! Is it? I smiled.

In the afternoon, when I was thinking about where to visit, the deacon informed me that the abbot had some time to spare, and those who wanted to visit could go with her before the evening class began. Of course, we won't miss the opportunity to open our eyes.

Master Dean (abbot), 53 years old. He has just sent off a group of distinguished guests living abroad, but his expression is not tired. After greeting, the abbot asked everyone where they came from, and then asked them to ask questions directly. The question I want to ask is: Wutai Mountain is a Buddhist holy land with many temples. Strict and orderly management, such as your temple. Masters respect precepts, which are exemplary and awe-inspiring. But why are there so many monks begging on their knees on the main roads of many temple attractions and tourist routes? Why don't they concentrate on practicing in their temples, but beg in disguise and even prevent tourists from begging for money and things? How to ask questions is brewing, and a young woman who claimed to be a reporter of Datong Evening News took the lead in speaking. This is a radical intellectual who advocates Chinese studies, trying to persuade the master dean to use his influence to advocate the whole society to learn Laozi's Tao Te Ching, instead of preaching Buddhism with non-native culture. I thought the abbot would be furious or ignore it, but he didn't! She changed the reporter's cognitive view with only two tools and won everyone's admiration. The reporter bowed down in public and prayed at the abbot's feet. The two tools are: outstanding eloquence and erudition, which undoubtedly comes from extraordinary wisdom. After listening to her speech, only two words popped up in my mind: awesome! Because of the time, I didn't have a chance to ask questions at last. At the end of the meeting, like the last time I met the old monk, people took photos with Master, and many people knelt down and bowed. And I am still a bystander.

When I returned to my home, I sent a short message to Master Zhao Kong, telling her what I saw and heard during the day and asking her questions that I didn't have a chance to ask the abbot. My answer is as follows:

"Pushou Temple is a good representative of Buddhism. The situation outside the temple is complicated, which is a bad phenomenon. Don't let unreasonable phenomena kill the seeds of your Buddha's karma. You live in Pushou Temple, and you can see its face. It is a representative of Buddhist temples, teams and monks. So we should look on the bright side. The world is big, and there is no wonder. Some situations outside the temple do not represent the whole Buddhist community. Please think carefully and check carefully. Manjusri Bodhisattva in Wutai Mountain represents wisdom. May you distinguish between good and evil with wise eyes! " (Empty Master's message)

Wutai Mountain is quiet at night, especially suitable for people with insomnia.

The third day of Buddhism

It rained the night before and never stopped. I decided to spend this day "lying down and reading" with my companions-not only to recover my tired body after running around for a few days, but also to make up for the sleep I lost because of early classes. At the same time, I also had a romantic idea: how rare it is to study in the rain and be in a temple thousands of miles away from home. It seems that I have crossed time and space and become a scholar trapped in a temple. I'm ashamed that I'm not a man, or I might fall in love with Sister Fox Fairy as soon as possible at night!

Lying reading, apart from the sound of falling rain, is a quiet conversation between Zhejiang pilgrims: this is the Dojo of Manjusri Bodhisattva. My son took the college entrance examination this year, and I came here to pray for his son! Another voice said: Mm-hmm, Manjusri Bodhisattva specializes in Wen Qu, which is very effective! ..... I smiled, closed Bensinger's "Children's Love" in my hand, and looked at the green hills outside the window.

Twilight arrival, the cool mountain breeze with drizzle, although in the middle, gives people the feeling of clear autumn. Just then, according to the news:

"You have a lot of Buddhism and good roots. I am very happy to be in the arms of Manjusri Bodhisattva in Wutai Mountain and live in a temple. I can always get in touch with Buddhism and gain something in my mind. When you first come into contact with Buddhism, people's courage, strength and joy are easy to initiate, but it is important to have persistence and long-term endurance! " (Empty Master's message)

The fourth day of Buddhism

This is my fourth day in Wutai Mountain, and I plan to come back. Breakfast is still eight-treasure porridge, thick and delicious. I like this porridge. The dish is still fried with beans and carrots, and the steamed bread with flower rolls is replaced with freshly baked bread, which is simple but not monotonous. I sent a short message to Master Zhao Kong, telling her that she was going back and wanted to see her very much. I wonder if she will go back to Pushou Temple. According to the empty reply:

"I will go back to Pushou Temple, but there is a release festival here recently, which will last for a few days. You have a Buddha's fate, and we will definitely meet. Good luck and safe arrival! Amitabha! According to heaven! " (Empty Master's message)

So, we went to the guest room again and gave "good luck" to the deacon-I privately called it room and board. After that, I took a tour bus, held my arm out of the window, said "Shayenala" to Wutai Mountain, waved my hand and left without taking a cloud.

You must say how you feel. You can't say no, but what is this? It seems a lot, and it seems that I can't understand the language for a while. Think of a Buddhist commandment: don't talk nonsense. So, put it aside for the time being.
