Jiangsu Institute of Information Technology is a state-owned public university approved by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is also a model higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province. The school's predecessor, Sunan Staff Technical School, was founded in 1953. It is the first electronic secondary specialized school in new China, and 1960 was renamed Wuxi Radio Industry School.
In August, 2002, Wuxi Radio Industry School, a state-level key technical secondary school, merged with Wuxi Xishan Vocational Education Center, a state-level vocational education center founded by 1997, which realized the upgrading of personnel training level and organizational system and embarked on a new journey of higher vocational education.

From 2065438 to March 2007, the school official website showed that there are more than 800 full-time and part-time teachers in the school, among which more than 87% are teachers with middle and senior titles, and the proportion of professional teachers in the school is more than 90%. The school has gathered national and provincial famous teachers, national excellent teachers, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, national technical experts, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the province and provincial "333" high schools.
In recent years, the school has successively won the "20 17 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Award" and the "20 18 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Award", twice won the "China School-Enterprise Cooperation Good Case" Award, won three pilot training projects of the Ministry of Education 1+X Certificate System, and the Jiangsu Province Industry-Education Integration Platform Construction Project/KLOC-.
