Jiangsu Institute of Information Technology was established in August 2002. It is a state-owned public university approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is also a model higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province.
The predecessor of the college is Wuxi Radio Industry School, a national key technical secondary school founded by 1953, and Wuxi Xishan Vocational Education Center, a national vocational education center founded by 1997. The college strives to cultivate technical and skilled talents with innovative and entrepreneurial spirit facing the front line of production, construction, service and management.
On April 7th, 1953, Wuxi Staff Technical School was established in Liqiao, Wuxi.
1960, the school was renamed Wuxi Radio Industry School, becoming the first electronic secondary school in China. The school belongs to the Ministry of Electronic Industry and the Ministry of Information Industry.
1980, approved by the former state education commission, the school became a national key secondary specialized school.
1997, Wuxi Xishan Vocational Education Center was established.
In August 2002, Wuxi Radio Industry School merged with Wuxi Xishan Vocational Education Center to form Jiangsu Institute of Information Technology.
In 2007, the school was rated as excellent in the evaluation of talent training in higher vocational colleges organized by the Ministry of Education.
In 2008, the school was established as "Jiangsu Higher Education Talent Training Model Innovation Experimental Base".
20 12, the school successfully passed the new round of talent training evaluation of higher vocational education by the Ministry of Education.
In 20 14, the school passed the construction acceptance of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu province with excellent results.
