1. Replacement of ID card due or damaged: Kunming residence permit, original resident ID card or other valid identification (students provide student ID card), and fill in the registration form for acceptance of resident ID card in different places;
2. Replace ID card: household registration book, residence permit or other valid identification.
According to the latest policy in China, foreigners who lose their ID cards in Kunming can have them reissued in other places. I apply to the acceptance point of the resident ID card of the public security organ where I live, write the registration form for the acceptance of the resident ID card in different places, pay the fee for the certificate, and apply for a replacement residence booklet or residence permit.
The resident ID card of the People's Republic of China is a proof of citizenship to prove that you live in People's Republic of China (PRC). On March 29th, 2004, Chinese mainland officially began to renew the second-generation resident ID card with built-in contactless IC card smart chip. The surface of the second-generation ID card adopts anti-counterfeiting film and printing anti-counterfeiting technology, and personal color photos can be used to read the information in the digital chip by machine.

People's Republic of China (PRC) Identity Card Law
Article 3 The contents of the resident identity card registration include: name, gender, nationality, date of birth, permanent residence, citizenship number, personal photo, fingerprint information, validity period of the certificate and issuing authority. Citizenship number is a unique and life-long identity code for every citizen, which is compiled by public security organs according to the national standard of citizenship number. Citizens applying for obtaining, renewing or replacing resident identity cards shall register their fingerprint information.
Article 7 A citizen shall, within three months from the date of reaching the age of 16, apply to the public security organ where his permanent residence is located for a resident identity card. Citizens under the age of 16 shall apply for resident identity cards by guardians.
Article 8 A resident identity card shall be issued by the public security organ of the people's government at the county level where the resident's permanent residence is located.
Article 10 To apply for a resident identity card, a registration form for applying for a resident identity card shall be filled in and a residence booklet submitted for examination.
