Channel steel is a long strip steel with a trough-shaped cross section, which belongs to carbon structural steel used in construction and machinery. It is a complex section steel with a grooved cross section. Channel steel is mainly used in building structure, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment and vehicle manufacturing. China imports more channel steel than it exports. The main producing areas are Tangshan Iron and Steel, Baotou Steel, Shandong Iron and Steel, Huangte, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Xuanhua Steel and Nippon Steel.
Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specification of hot rolled common channel steel is 5-40#. The specification of hot-rolled flexible channel steel supplied by both parties is 6.5-30#. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicle manufacturing, other industrial structures and fixed cabinets. Channel steel is usually used with I-beams. Channel steel can be divided into four types according to its shape: cold-formed equilateral channel steel, cold-formed unequal channel steel, cold-formed internal rolled channel steel and cold-formed external rolled channel steel. According to the theory of steel structure, it should be the wing plate of channel steel, that is to say, channel steel should be standing, not lying down.
